We, the people of St. Clare Catholic Parish, In the Diocese of Belleville, are called by God
in baptism to be disciples of Jesus Christ. Centered in the Eucharist, and strengthened by the gifts of the Holy Spirit, we strive to live
the Gospel and further the reign of God. We do this by creating a vibrant faith
community, by actively promoting justice and evangelization, and by using our gifts in the service of God’s people, to give God
glory and reverence all of Creation.
Most Reverend Edward K. Braxton Bishop of Belleville

Welcome Home! Fr. Jim and parishioners Alicia and Madison Luechtefeld, Phil and Sara Wise, and Simone Wheeler have recently returned home from
Our Sister Parish, Our Lord of Esquipulas in Guastatoya, Guatemala. We look forward to hearing about their trip, our sister parish and how
our parishes can continue to help each other to grow!
We are delighted to congratulate Sister Mary Louise Degenhart, A.S.C., M.B.A., FASHP, on her 65th jubilee as a member of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ religious community. Please help us celebrate this milestone by witnessing her “vow renewal” at 10:30 a.m. Mass this Sunday, Jan. 12 and attending a reception in the Fellowship Hall after Mass. Sister Mary Louise is a St. Clare parishioner, who you often see in the front row of our church for weekend or daily Mass. You would expect that, as a religious sister, she would have a wonderful wis-dom and a deep faith, which she lives out daily. However, you probably don’t know of her many achievements in the field of pharmacy administration. She is special assistant to the president of St. Louis College of Pharmacy and a former pharmacy adminis-trator, who was instrumental in the growth of pharmacy residency programs. According to her “bio,” her pharmacy administration positions over the years led to the planning and implementation of the state-of-the art practice of pharmacy. She also was a member of the ASHP’s Accreditation Services Division and was a founder of the Southern Illinois Society of Hospital Pharmacists and the Illi-nois Council of Health-System Pharmacists. She continues to be an active leader in professional organizations. In addition, she served as the director of healthcare facilities spon-sored by the Adorers and helped establish a “ministry of reconcili-ation” in a troubled neighborhood on the south side of Chicago. She has devoted much time and talent in volunteer efforts in the Catholic Church and with hospice and mental health agencies. Sister Mary Louise, Thank you for bringing Christ’s love to all you encounter through your service, your profession and your faithful commitment for so many years!

Respect Life Corner In Isaiah 49:5 “And now saith the Lord, that formed me from the womb to be His servant,”…this weekend we pray for and remem-ber the precious lives of 62,500,000 babies who have been lost to abortion since the passage of Roe versus Wade. If we take a mo-ment of silence for each baby lost to abortion, using a minute as a moment…we would be silent for 119 years! Earlier this month, Pope Francis spoke on the primacy of women as sources of life. “Yet they are continually offended, beaten, raped, coaxed into prostitution and to kill the life that occurs in their womb. Any vio-lence inflicted on women is a profanation of God, born of woman…our level of humanity can be judged on how we treat a woman’s body…the most noble flesh in the world and the admiration of cre-ation.” Learn, Act, Connect, Pray: Consider joining coaltionfor-lifestl.com and be trained to help women facing a crisis pregnancy in our area, right now. Mention revealmosaic.com to anyone fac-ing an unplanned pregnancy for many FREE services…from medi-cal care and parenting classes to job training, mentoring and finan-cial help. Pray for dignity of life at all its stages.
