What better place for your child to celebrate a birthday than at the McGaw Y? We have birthday party fun down to a science, and our facility is a giant playground for kids eager to run, climb, swim and play (and eat cake, of course.) By the way, it doesn’t have to be a birthday party. If you have anything to celebrate, we have a party in store for you.

Reserve our 4-lane, warm-water pool for 50 minutes of fun with your friends! We provide foam pool noodles and a supervising lifeguard. Then take the party upstairs for an hour in our multipurpose party room.

The party starts with 20 minutes of open play with gym equipment. Then our staff members lead group games for 30 minutes.

The party starts with 30 minutes of open play on an indoor playground of mats, tunnels, toys, and foam shapes. Then our staff members lead 20 minutes of playground games.

20 minutes of staff-led drills and skills, then a 30-minute officiated scrimmage. Choose from basketball, football, volleyball, soccer, or floor hockey.

45 minutes in the pool, 45 minutes in the gym, and 60 minutes in the party room.

INFANT & TODDLER CARELet’s give them a great start! We think that the building blocks to a happy adulthood begin at the youngest age and we want to make sure that your child gets a chance to build relationships and develop their own personality, so they can grow up to be a secure and well-rounded adult. Our teachers know that children hit their milestones at their own pace, so we encourage each child to develop at their own pace.

Our preschoolers discover science, arts, healthy habits, literacy and more! We know how fast children that age develop and that they want to explore everything, and here they can! Preschool at the Y never gets boring, from field trips and swimming lessons, to gym activities, music, and more!

Come explore with us! Here, children get to play, make new friends, and are eased into a preschool setting, which prepares them for kindergarten. Your child will be with the same children and the same teachers every day, so they can easily form relationships and make friends.

At the Y, we believe the values and skills learned early on are vital building blocks for quality of life and future success. That’s why our infant/toddler, preschool, and school age programs are staffed with teachers who understand the cognitive, physical and social development of kids.We respect and nurture your child’s need to feel connected and supported in trying new things. At our center, babies develop trust and security, preschoolers experience early literacy and learn about their environment, and school-age kids make friends, learn new skills, and receive homework assistance. We’re committed to building confident kids today and bright futures tomorrow.

We want to make it easier for working parents. School’s Out provides afternoon care for children from school dismissal until 6:15pm, as well as on days off and on half days. Here, children get homework assistance, so you don’t have to worry about anything when you pick them up!

The Foster Reading Center was established to help children appreciate reading in an after school setting. We are committed to programs that support children’s success in school, and reading is a fundamental part of that success.

CHILDREN’S CENTERRegistrations for full day programs are accepted year round!Part Day & School Age program registration starts:CURRENT FAMILIES: 3/2 MEMBERS: 3/16 COMMUNITY: 3/23

In addition, all of our programs use the McGaw YMCA pool, locker rooms and gymnasium for weekly swim and fitness activities as an added value to our curriculum unique only to the McGaw YMCA Children’s Center.

TUTORING

Y ACHIEVERS

Because each child’s learning needs are unique, the McGaw Y offers one hour of free, one-on-one tutoring per week to our members in grades K-8. Tutoring is available in math, reading, English, and study skills.

PROJECT SOAR (MENTORING)Project SOAR is our one-on-one mentoring program that aims to create a long-lasting relationship between youth and an adult through regular meetings and outings.Mentors meet one-on-one with youth in the Evanston area for a minimum of one year in order to ensure stability and to enable long-lasting relationships. Together they participate in group activities like bowling, skiing, camping, and sporting events, as well.

At the Y we know how important it is to create confident youth in order to build strong communities. Our Achievers program is geared towards instilling the confidence in high school students that is needed for success in their personal and professional lives once they leave high school. In this program adult mentors support participants in pursuing their higher educational and career goal by equipping them with the skills they need to get there and by being positive role models.

For more information on how to get involved in any of these programs as a participant or volunteer, please contact Sue Sowle at [email protected]

What makes our swim lessons different? We use flotation devices in our preschool classes to make it easier for kids to become more independent, a clear progression from one course to the next, and best of all, we have a lower child/instructor ratio, so kids get more individual attention.

(McGaw YMCA Swim Team) MYSTAre you ready to make the leap into something more competitive? MYST is a competitive swimming program that’s oriented toward developing the whole swimmer. We believe that there’s more to competition than just collecting trophies. The guiding philosophy of YMCA swimming is, “Everyone swims; everyone wins.” That means we value participation as much as performance. Yes, we work hard to become tough and fair competitors. But we want our swimmers to learn what they can accomplish as individuals and as members of a team as well.

STROKE CLINICS
