YMCAs do many things: we offer fitness classes; we host family events;

we encourage kids to get active; we hold community events. But when we boil it down to its essence, everything the Y does is to foster community, improve life, and focus on building “a better us.”

All of us here at Countryside YMCA work to understand how we can best coordinate our programs, facility features, and offerings to allow our members to reach their highest potential.

To do this, we help members generate a sense of belonging through community, we help them improve their health, and we offer activites that bring families together. But our efforts also extend beyond our doors and into our greater community through socially responsible outreach.

This summer, our Annual Campaign will provide scholarships that send kids in our community to summer camp here at Countryside YMCA. We’ve heard time and time again how summer camp can be such a powerfully positive, transformative experience for kids, and believe in giving kids the chance to experience their best summer ever.

Indeed, summer at the Y is for everyone. Your adventures might involve swimming

and relaxing at the Outdoor Pool after taking advantage of 1-week swim lessons, walking our Nature Trail, learning a new skill and exploring your creative side, joining in a group fitness class, or finding community through a sports league.

In 2015, we really focused on enhancing our facility as a way to improve the member experience here. Members told us in no uncertain terms that we needed to change; we listened. By the end of 2015, we were roughly 40% through some major renovations. We expect to finish the renovations by early 2017.

But we know that even when the renovation ends, we cannot stop striving to be the best. As the dust clears, we can focus once again on modifying and adding programs that enhance our strategic focus of healthy living, youth and family development, connections, and social responsibility. I hope that you are as excited for the future as I am. The time, effort, and short-term inconvenience it takes to complete this meaningful work is well worth it. Countryside YMCA plans to continue its efforts to improve the lives of our members and those in our community for generations to come.

For you, your family, and our community,

we’re here for good.

GENERAL INFORMATIONOhio Reciprocal MembershipAnother great reason to belong to the YMCAWe want to encourage members to utilize the Y as often as they can. Sometimes, it’s more convenient for members to utilize a Y in a different location when traveling, near a workplace, or in another region.

Now, full members have the flexibility to use other Y facilities throughout Ohio, at no extra charge.

How It WorksSimply present your active YMCA membership card and photo ID at any participating Ohio YMCA and enjoy free access.

Program Details• The Reciprocal Membership Program is valid for full

members only.• Program-only participants may upgrade to a full

membership at any time to qualify.• Countryside YMCA does not have Silver Sneakers

memberships.• Youth memberships will not be accepted at

Countryside YMCA without a paying adult.• Visitors to other Ys must present a valid YMCA

membership card and photo ID upon the first visit and complete a visiting member waiver or standard membership application form with liability waiver.

• Full Y members must use their home branch at least 50% of the time to be eligible for reciprocal membership.

• Program discounts do not apply.• Participating YMCAs reserve the right to restrict

facility or program access. Please visit that specific YMCA’s website for details.

• Other restrictions may apply.

We’ve expanded the free weight area in the cardio-strength center and added brand new equipment.

We built a brand new, larger Child Watch area that kids and parents are loving! The free, 2-hour per day sitting service for members has never looked better.

• Gymnastics Center• Lower Level Main Gym• Lower Level Multipurpose Space

• Renovated FAC Locker Rooms• Circuit Training Room• Stretching area in the CSC

• Starter Fitness Studio• Renovated Stolle Center

Other project completed in the past few months include:

Coming SoonBy the end of summer, we’ll be using:• a new elevator next to the physical desk providing

access to Track 2 (above the gyms) for all• 140 new parking spaces• the Spirit Studio, for Yoga, Pilates, and similar programs• a larger spin studio• a new fitness studio near the new North Entrance

Look into the future with us to the fall, and you’ll see a beautiful new community space and expanded café in the former Prime Time. AQUATICS & SWIM for KIDSSwim LessonsWith a 150-year history of helping people learn to swim, the Y’s

swimming classes are designed to teach this lifelong skill to people of all ages and skill levels in a safe environment. Whether you’re learning to swim, developing skills, or seeking a competitive swim environment, Countryside YMCA offers a range of swim, dive and water adventure programs. All classes are led by qualified, trained instructors.

All Y swim instructors are nationally certified and have a minimum of 40 hours of training, including certification in CPR, AED, first aid, and oxygen administration.

Swim lessons at Countryside YMCA help students learn the basics, improve skills, practice safety and rescue skills, and have fun. Lessons are progressive and class sizes are small so students get the personalized instruction they need to build vital skills and prepare for the next program level.

Preparing for LessonsReview these tips for what to expect, what to wear, and what to bring to YMCA Swim Lessons:• Bring your membership card or photo ID.• Members receive a discount on lessons and classes; programs-

only members may take swim lessons at the programs-only member price.

• Clothes, street shoes, diaper bags, and other personal items can be stored in the locker rooms; bring your own lock and leave your valuables at home.

• Plan to arrive with enough time to change into swimming attire.• Come to class dressed and ready for the pool:

• A family-appropriate and clean swimsuit is required for all class and lesson participants.

• Tight-fitting rubber or plastic pants with swim diaper are required for children who are not yet potty-trained.

• All pools are heated, but those who chill easily may benefit from a swim shirt or ear bands.

• Goggles are permitted and preferred in the pool; masks and snorkels are not (unless otherwise noted).

• Please bring a towel to class.• All class and lesson participants must shower with soap before

entering the pool.• Participants should use the restroom before class; staff is not

permitted to take students to the restroom.• The Y is committed to keeping class and lesson sizes small so

swimmers get the expert personal attention they need to succeed.• If you or your child has a fear of water, or have had a bad experience

with water, arrive at your class or lesson a little early to inform the instructor. Please let the instructor know of any information you think will help your child succeed.

• Parents of children age six years and under must remain in the pool area with their children during lessons.

• The pool might be available to Y members before or after lessons for open swimming; check the pool schedule online for the most current information.

• If you aren’t sure which lesson is the best match for you or your child, contact Karla Toye at 513 932 1424 ext 152 to schedule a free skill level assessment.

Accommodation ProcessPlease inform the Swim Lesson Coordinator before enrolling if you or a family member requires any special accommodation. This information helps us better meet your needs or those of a family member with available resources and to the extent reasonable. All staff that will be working with you or a family member with special needs will be informed of how to meet those needs.

1-Week Summer Swim LessonsDuring the summer, we offer special 1-week swim lessons that condense the typical 5-week session into 1 week: instead of taking 1 class per week for 5 weeks, students take 1 class a day for 1 week, Monday through Friday.

Registration is open all summer long, from May 23rd until August 8th. When using 1-week swim lesson program codes, be sure to use session code 16SS.

CloggingClogging is “called” much like square dancing is, so you don’t have to memorize dance routines - you learn lots of individual steps like the Outhouse, the Turkey, the Cowboy, and the Rocking Chair, and when the music starts, you listen to the caller, and voila! Learn a whole new dance in a few short minutes! Line dancing, move over - clogging is the next level of fun! (Wear tap shoes, jingle-tap clogging shoes, or smooth-soled shoes that don’t grip the floor.)

FULL & PART TIME LICENSED CHILD CAREOur program is designed to meet the developmental needs of young children. We provide experiences that enhance and enrich each child’s cognitive, language, social, emotional, physical, and creative development. Each class is designed to foster the appropriate developmental skills of the child. Within the Center’s daily schedule, each child has opportunities to create, explore the environment, develop problem solving and personal interaction skills, and develop concepts through experiences. Children develop a positive self-concept through a balance of self-directed activities and teacher-assisted activities. Opportunities for solitary play, as well as group activities, are provided. Locations vary.

PRESCHOOL ENRICHMENTIt is designed for children ages 3-5 to participate in appropriate activities specific to the child’s age, ability, and aptitude. Our program will have a positive effect on your child’s academic performance. We have designed our preschool program to be part of a nurturing environment where your child is our number one priority. It is a wonderful social experience. The staff are qualified preschool educators. Time and locations vary.

EXTENDED KINDERGARTENThis program is designed to provide child care for the hours your child is not in school. When school is out for holiday breaks & snow days, this program goes to a full day service located at Countryside YMCA | Lebanon. Each day the children have a variety of centers to choose activities from, such as: science, art, reading, music, writing, wood working, blocks, and dramatic play. A hot lunch and a morning/afternoon snack is provided daily.

PRIME TIME CHILD CARE (SCHOOL AGE)This program is designed to provide child care before and after school hours. Lebanon first and second graders are located at Louisa Wright while third through sixth graders are located at Donovan Elementary. The children are bused to and from school by Lebanon City Schools Transportation Department. When school is out for holiday breaks and snow days, this program goes to a full day service located at Countryside YMCA | Lebanon. Each day the children will have a variety of activities to choose from, help with homework, breakfast and afternoon snack.

GIVE & VOLUNTEER Life-Changing Moments

Countryside YMCA has been a godsend, but most importantly I had a team of caring supporters from friends and instruc-tors at the Y. I have lost 51 lbs. and just began my next goal toward another 50. Exercising began to help me de-stress and feel good. I lost weight, felt energized, and became a bet-ter mom, wife, and guidance counselor. I began to love myself again. I wanted to teach my kids to not give up and to begin to live this healthy lifestyle. The amount of love that flows through the walls of Countryside YMCA cannot be explained in words. We are all here to help others, and what the Y has done for my life is above and beyond what my heart can tell you. I want to make a difference, and I now know I can do it!
