Meanwhile, on the winners side, Chuck Evans defeated Susan Williams 8-4 and Grande beat Paul Grande and DCT Tour Director Dennis Orender Ray Robles 8-6. The next round on the one loss side saw two comeback wins as Babe came back from a 7-6 deficit to defeat Ray Robles 8-7 and Susan Williams take advantage of Todd Rowitz’s nerves to come back from a 2-4 scoreline to win five straight and a 7-4 win. Susan faced Babe for fourth place in a see-saw match match. Susan led 2-0 and 3-1 before Babe came back to tie the score 3-3 and 4-4. Grande had been running out at 5-4, when a touchy position shot left his cue ball in the side pocket and Evans knotted the score at 5-5. Grande was visibly frus- trated after the errant shot, and took his break to clear his head. Whatever Paul told himself on the break, it worked. Grande took complete control of the match and won the next five games for the 10-5 victory. Paul commented after the match, “I was tired. My back hurt. My neck hurt. But you have to play through that if you want to win.” Grande earned $700 for the win, while Evans settled for $400 in second place prize money. The Desert Classic Tour’s next stop will be 9-ball on the 9 foot tables at Pockets in Tucson on August 20-21. Mikey and Mark went undefeated to capture Jimbo’s Blind Draw Dart Tournament on July 15th. Mikey and Mark emerged from the field of thirteen teams to take the hot-seat with a 2-0 win over Jeff and Lori. On the one loss side, Jeff and Lori found David and Suzy waiting. David and Suzy had lost to Mikey and Mark in the first round, but had won five straight matches on the one loss side. Jeff and Lori ended up being win #6 for the comeback minded team. The finals saw Mikey and Mark win the 501, but lose the Cricket game against David and Suzy. The match came down to a fifteen round Cricket rubber match, which saw Mikey and Mark pull out the win 634 - 630. Fourth Time A Charm For Grande

In his Desert Classic Tour history, Paul “New York Paulie” Grande had been to the finals three times. And three times he had gone home settling for second place. The DCT big table eight ball event at Bullshooters over the weekend of July 9th and 10th would prove to be the lucky charm for Paul as he earned his first DCT tournament win.

The field of 23 players saw marquee names sent to the left side of the board as Chuck Evans beat Babe Thompson, Grande beat Gus Briseno and Mike Sandoval beat tour director Dennis Orender - all in the first round.

Of those three first round losers, it was Babe Thompson who went the furthest as he was the only player to make it to the final eight and qualify for Sunday play.

Sunday got underway with Babe elimi-nating Bobby Emmons 8-7, and Todd Rowitz upending Jim Galati 7-5 on the one loss side. Meanwhile, on the winners side, Chuck Evans defeated Susan Williams 8-4 and Grande beat

Paul Grande and DCT Tour Director Dennis OrenderRay Robles 8-6.

From there, Babe appeared to run out of gas as Susan won the next three games for the 7-4 win.

Chuck Evans forged a great comeback in the hot-seat match where he trailed Grande 5-1, only to come back and tie the score at 6-6. From there, Grande won the next two games and the hot-seat 8-6.

Evans made quick work of Williams in the semi-finals, as he won their match 8-3, and the rematch between Evans and Grande in the finals was on.

The finals was an extended race to 10 and it couldn’t have been closer early on. The players traded games and neither could earn more than a one rack lead until the 5-5 mark. Grande had been running out at 5-4, when a touchy position shot left his cue ball in the side pocket and Evans knotted the score at 5-5. Grande was visibly frus-trated after the errant shot, and took his break to clear his head. Whatever Paul told himself on the break, it worked. Grande took complete control of the match and won the next five games for the 10-5 victory.

Paul commented after the match, “I was tired. My back hurt. My neck hurt. But you have to play through that if you want to win.”

Grande earned $700 for the win, while Evans settled for $400 in second place prize money.

Damn, it is hot out there. No better time than the present to get out of the heat and get into a local room to cool off and play some pool or darts. A big welcome to Dave’s On Northern. They are having their grand opening August 12th. Check them out at 23rd Ave and Northern. We have a little something different from Samm Diep this month. Samm takes us into the mind of the Magician in her new “What Would The Pro Do” column. I hope everyone takes advantage of the Diamond table at Stingers and Skip & Jans to get ready for the BCA SW Regional Championship in early September. Good luck to all of the Arizona players competing in at the APA Nationals this month. I would like to thank Smak Graphics for the great work they are doing reworking some of our ads. What the heck is the “Arizona All Stars List”. Stay tuned next month to find out.

Player of the MonthTiffany Velder

APA SPORTSWOMEN OF THE YEAR, Tiffany Velder. Tiffany has already received a player of the month award from APA for her attitude, willingness to help others, making the game fun for everyone around her and supporting her teammates and APA. In the last year we had many nominations for the Sportsmanship Award. Here is Tiffany’s story.

One night in league play Tiffany was playing her match and she had just walked away from the table to let her opponent begin his turn, she was talking with her teammates and just having a good time. When Tiffany turned back to the table she realized that her opponent was shooting the wrong balls. At this time she yelled, “Wait, your shooting my balls in.” Tiffany’s opponent had cleared the table only leaving Tiffany 1 last ball to shoot in and then the 8 Ball. Tiffany stopped the game and went to ask her captain what they should do. Her captain told her that the rule book says that if your opponent shoots the wrong ball it is ball in hand to you. Tiffany didn’t like that. She again asked her captain “What can we do?” Her captain told her that if she didn’t want to take ball in hand then they would have to re rack and play the game over again. Tiffany’s response was immedi-ate, “That’s what I want to do. I will not when that way.” In this match Tiffany had already won the first game so her winning the second game would have put her on the hill. As it turned out Tiffany lost the game, lost the match and lost the win for her team. Tiffany and her team still had a good night and had fun. The rule did state that Tiffany could have had ball in hand, but for Tiffany it was much more than a rule it was her integrity, her pride and the knowledge that she did the right thing.

Everyone that played that night learned something, it is easy to be a good sportsman when you win but the test of a true sportsman comes when you lose. Congratulations Tiffany Velder, APA Sportswoman of the Year.

The APA is gearing up for the National competition in Las Vegas this month. More than 850 teams from the U.S., Canada, and Japan will be competing for a lot of money at the Riviera Hotel and Casino on the strip. APA pays out $1.5 million in prize money each year at their Na-tional events.

Phoenix will be sending three 8 Ball teams, one 9 Ball team, three 8 Ball doubles teams, two 9 Ball doubles teams, and 2 masters teams to play for their share of the purse. Teams that earn a spot at the National Champi-onships are rewarded with rooms, entry fee, and travel assistance paid by their local League Operators.

The APA National Championships are the end reward for the past year of competition and high placement in the local standings. The only way to Nationals is to earn it through competition with other teams in our area. League Operators are allowed to send only a select few teams from their area.

The real beauty of this competition is that each team has an equal chance because of the unique handicap system. No one team is allowed to “stack” themselves with advanced players to gain an advantage. Every team must win with a balanced team of beginner players along with the higher skilled players.

The journey to the Nationals is long and hard, but the reward is great. With over 850 teams competing in the main event it is easy to understand why this event was just named to the Guinness book of world records as the world’s largest pool tournament. They will be running mini tourna-ments nonstop for the 8 days of the event. There is something there for every player whether you are on a competing team or not. Come up and meet Jeanette Lee, the APA spokes person, Mike Massey or any number of others pros that will be on hand for challenge matches.

Teams that will be representing Phoenix this year for 8 Ball are:

Pocket Eights captained by Ray McCombs, his wife Colleen McCombs, Steve Molino, Chad Marshall, Lindsey Meston, Jeremy and Jodi Lucas, and Teddy Cousins.

O. B. C. (Old, Bald, & Crotchety) – Captain David Rayner, Lola Lind, Burt Ciglar, Alex Bedworth, Mike Siegforth, Mark Lucero, and Howard Hays.

V-8’s – Captain by Dave Decker, wife Jeanie Decker, Matthew Frakes, Izzy Pacheco, Diane Luchi, Herman Simonis, Matthew Olsen, and Janet Miicke.

The 9 Ball team “Outcasts” consists of captain Burt Ciglar, Bob Mock, Gary Robinson, Wesley Brinkley, Scott Coffin, Perry Richmond, and John Hughes.

AZPL July Players of the Month Dawn Atokuku & Steven Johnnson

Dawn Atokuku has been on a tear this season! She is currently 20-7 and lead-ing all women in every offensive category including Power Ranking, points scored, scoring percentage, wins, winning percentage, perfect games, match average, and improved match average. She also leads the women in outscoring her opponents. This is Dawn’s 13th consecutive season in the league.

Since Steven Johnson started off the season 2-4 he’s been riding a 15-game winning streak including winning Player of the Week last week with a 30-4 run, including two 10-0 run-outs in helping his team to a 9-0 record to remain the only undefeated team in the league. This is Steven’s first season in the AZPL.

Congratulations to Dawn and Steven..

Dawn Atokuku with teammates Cecil Attson & Mark Tomlinson

The Thursday night division came down to the wire as the Cinco Hom-bres climbed from 3rd place with two weeks to go into first to take the title as league champions.

In the individual points race Troy Ridder playing for 7 Balls & A Pocket sat atop the points list since early in the season only to be overtaken on the final night by Doc Rice of the Cinco Hombres. Stor and Avila Take Long Road To Groggys Win

Groggy’s 7-2: With thunder and lightning outside, we had thunder and lightning inside. 17 scotch doubles teams braved the hot temperatures and thunderstorms to get their fair share of over $ 950.00 in prize money.

Bull Shooters Raises $1,100 for Heart SocietySaturday, June 25th the dart players once again opened up their hearts and their pocket books. This time, for the American Heart Association. Thirty two play-ers and lots of other guests came out to support this great event.

There were drawings all day, lots of giveaways and lots of fun and great darts.

The main thing was that $1,100 was raised so that research can be done to help combat the main reason for death in America.

We had a great time with a T-shirt give away for those who could answer trivia questions about the heart and care of the heart.

A lot of people went out of their way to insure that the event was a success. Jocko Flanagan (a Bull Shooters Employee) donated many great items, includ-ing a Michael Jordan Litho.

Daniel Vinesky as usual, was there to purchase lots of tickets for the drawing.

It was a great crowd and a great time at Bull Shooters. Look for the next Heart event in the fall.

By Mike Bates

I am fairly new to darts (2 years) and I think understand the game, but I feel I am throw-ing better than my stats show. How do I get my stats up?

Good question that I think is misunderstood. In a team game, if you play team darts, some-times your stats will suffer.

I have always said “Give me the ‘W’ and the stats don’t matter”. It can be frustrating at times, but it should be about having fun and helping your team win more than stats.

The problem is when you shoot darts to close numbers that are

closed, you don’t get the same marks.

Of if at the end of the game, you have to shoot bullseyes, it can also affect your stats.

But if you win the game, it shouldn’t matter.

Players can choose to shoot stats over closing and sometimes it works. To me, it only keeps the other players in the game.

I have played with both types of play-ers and some of the best. Most who play to win and don’t worry about what they shoot, usuall win.

We have guys who complain that they

don’t get picked in the Masters league and have great stats. Sometimes it is because the Captains have played with and against these players, and they don’t like the way they play.

We play freeze in Masters and I see guys stay on 40 because they are fro-zen. No matter way, that is ridiculous. You have to get down to a 4 or less to insure that you can not freeze your partner.

If I have 40 and shoot three darts to get to a 4, and you stay at 40, you will shoot 3 or 4 points higher per dart.

Bottom line is this. Play as good as you can and people will notice.

You know when you have shot well and when you haven’t.

Just keep winning and having fun, and let the others worry about stats; you will be a better player for it.

This is just my opinion and I may be wrong, but I doubt it.

Snoopy & JoJo Win Ox Combo EventThe OX Sports Bar held a com-bination Pool/Dart Tourna-ment on Inde-pendence Day, Monday, July 4th.

28 dart and pool players signed up for the blind draw event. Obviously, the interesting part was getting to watch dart players play pool and pool players play darts!

The format was best 2 out of 3 with teams having to play one game of 501 darts and one game of straight 8 call-your-pocket pool. For the tiebreaker, the win-ner of the coin toss got to pick to either play first or to pick their game. In most cases, if the team was better at pool than darts and they won the coin toss, they would select pool. A lot of matches came down to the coin toss and as it turned out, the pool table was where it ended.

Rocky & Lolo finished in 4th Place with $10 while Suzy Q & The Marriottchi finished in 3rd and collected $40.

In the final match between Snoopy & JoJo and Rick & Russella, the pool table again proved to be the deciding factor since Rick & Russella are more seasoned pool players than Snoopy & JoJo. The match was tied 1 – 1 and Rick & Rus-sella won the coin toss and selected pool. They went on to win the tournament and the $130 prize while Snoopy & JoJo finished in 2nd Place with $80.

Overall, it was a great tournament and the players enjoyed having to switch it up between pool and darts. Congratulations to our winners and a huge thanks to Rick & Julie Morris for putting on the tournament as well providing a potluck dinner for all guests.

Russela M. Snoopy, JoJo M. Ricky M.

Upshaw & Tapley Split Main Street Open

Bill Upshaw captured the hot-seat and then split with his hot-seat opponent, Barry Tapley, in the fi nals at Main Street Billiards’ Open event on July 11th.

Upshaw took the hot-seat by the narrowest of margins with a 7-6 win over Tapley, and got ready for the long wait before the fi nals.

The event called for a full race to handicap on the winners side and a race to handicap - 3 on the one loss side, which sped things up on the left side dramati-cally.

Tapley faced off against Adam Kauffman in the semi-fi nals. Kauffman was on a two match winning streak, but came up short against Tapley 4-3.

With the late hour, Upshaw and Tapley split in the fi nals.

WWPD? (What Would the Pros Do?)

By Samm Diep“Cherry Bomb” (DenverCherryBomb.com)

“What Would the Pros Do?” takes us to the 2010 U.S. Open 9-Ball Championships in Chesapeake, Virginia where the score is tied 5-5 between Efren Reyes and Marc Vidal.

After making a remarkable shot on the 7 ball in the side, Efren leaves himself dead, straight in on the 8 ball with the 9 at the other end of the table.

Commentators quickly identi-fi ed his dilemma and suggested he might attempt a jump or masse shot.

Efren scratched his head and contemplated all the possibili-ties. In the end, the choice was clear. Let’s review his options:

Option A: Cheat the pocket.Option B: Jump the cue ball.Option C: Masse the cue ball.

Option D: Draw the cue ball.Option E: Pocket the 8 ball rail-fi rst.

(Continued from page 21)

Efren chose Option E.

The risk of attempting to cheat the pocket in Option A is too high. So many things could go wrong with this choice. It’s far too easy to miss the shot when you place priority on playing position. Aside from missing the shot, there’s also the ex-treme danger of jumping either or both balls off the table.

Jumping the cue ball in Option B requires a perfect hit and is also incredibly risky. The pos-sibility of the cue ball and/or the object ball jumping off the table is quite high. This shot also requires an elevated cue and a very firm stroke. Once again, there is a huge chance of missing the shot.

The masse shot in Option C is not a bad choice but it’s an extremely diffi-cult shot that requires a lot of practice. This is not a practical shot and even with practice it’s not guaranteed that it can be executed properly under pres-sure in competition. If you are able to pocket the ball with the masse, the cue ball is sent loose and there is very little guarantee for position.

Drawing the cue ball straight back with low left-hand spin will get you close, but not close enough. You will have a hard time getting the cue ball anywhere near the center of the table. Once again, using such extreme spin and speed reduces the chances of pock-eting the ball and in this case, with very little reward even if you do.

The best decision in this scenario is Option E. The only thing Efren has to do was decide what part of the rail to

contact and adjust his speed accord-ingly. This shot is played with inside draw. The inside (right-hand) spin facilitates pocketing the ball and as an added bonus, it also causes the cue ball to bounce away from the 9 ball after it contacts the second rail.

This rail-first shot guarantees position on the 9 ball. In the event that you miss the 8 ball, it also carries the possibility of a safety because the cue ball is sent down table while the 8 ball usually remains up table. Efren also knew that with the newer cloth on the TV table, the balls slide more and shots aremore forgiving.

Like any new shot, do not attempt to execute this without practice. If you miss the shot, pay close attention to what side of the ball you’re missing it. Don’t be afraid to cut this ball. It’s much better to overcut this shot than to undercut it. Remember that along with

pocketing the ball, the other objectiveis to create distance between the cue ball and the 8 ball. Undercutting the 8 ball could easily result in selling out the shot.

Choosing the correct option won the game for Efren and allowed him to take the lead for the first time in the match. He went on to win 11-7. Both play-ers demonstrated tremendous shot-making and defensive play in this feature Accu-stats match. Efren shot a .871 and Marc shot a .793.

Another $1,000 fi rst place payout at Stingers

On July 16th, Stingers held another 8 and Under 9 Ball monthly pool tourna-ment that brought out 29 players to battle it out. Although the advertisement was $400 added with 32 players, Dale (Stingers owner) decided he wanted to add the $400 with the lesser amount of players. This made 1st place $1000.00.

Burt Balancad beat Derek Auston 8-4 to play for the hot seat. At the same time, Bill Vander-Weyst beat Brian Reich 8-5 to play Burt for the hot seat. On the one loss side, Art St.Germaine beat Derek 8-1 giving Derek $60 for 5th/6th place and Brian beat Jason Polk 8-4 giving Jason $60 and 5th/6th place.

The next match was between Art and Brian. They traded back and forth with Art coming out on top and giving Brian $130 for 4th place.

Burt and Bill played for the hot seat. Burt was able to hold on and win the hot seat 8-6. Bill then went on to play Art on the one loss side. Art was on fi re and eliminated Bill 8-4; Bill got 3rd place for $250.

Arizona Billiard & Dart NewsAugust 2011“Pancake” flattens the July 1-Hole field

at Bull Shooters

Who woulda thunk you could hold a One-Pocket tournament on a holiday weekend and still draw a full field? Actually, it was more than full, as the tour-nament director had to turn a couple of late-comers away!

That’s what happened at Bull Shooters on this past July 4th weekend, as Tres Kane (TD) did an excellent job of spreading the word on his pet project – that of promoting the game of One-Pocket on the Valley’s west side.

This month saw some new faces and new winners as former State One-Pocket Champion, Mike “Pancake” Pankoff entered the fray and showed that he still has what it takes to compete and win against extremely tough competitors. Set-tling for second, third, and fourth places were (in order), Bobby Emmons, Mike Lulamier, and Mitch Ellerman. Congrats everyone, and thanks for the show!

The next One-Pocket Madness at Bull Shooters is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 13. (Hint: pre-registering will guarantee you a spot.)

By Roger LongAdvanced Certified Instructor

The other day a friend of mine mentioned a word that got me to thinking. The word he used was, “intuition.”

Now intuition means, the abil-ity to perceive or know things without conscious reasoning. After giving this some thought, it came to me that intuition is something that all good players develop and use. They don’t rely on “muscle memory,” as has been erroneously taught by many instructors − includ-ing myself. After all, there is no such thing as muscle memory. Your muscles don’t have brains, so how can they remember anything?

What really does take place, however, is the conscious gathering and storing of in-

formation into your brain that is later recalled without conscious reasoning. How is the information gathered and stored? Through practice, of course.

At the beginning of your illustrious playing career is when you should be doing most of your conscious reason-ing. You take all those lessons, those theories, and those systems to the practice table and you try them out. You work on things over and over until they start working the way you’ve been told they should. And you don’t get frustrated and give up when shots don’t go, because you realize that even missed shots are providing valuable information for you.

Say what? Missed shots can provide valuable information? Yep, missed shots go into your subconscious memory as the wrong way to shoot. Whenever you get down on a shot that

just doesn’t feel right to you, it will be your subconscious memory (intuition) saying, “Remember what happened the last time you lined up a shot like this? You missed it, that’s what! Now try something else.”

That’s correct; your intuition will start kicking into gear after a while and it will tell you what’s right and what’s wrong without you having to do any conscious reasoning. Only don’t ex-pect to hear any actual conversation taking place, because if you do, it will only be you talking to yourself (your conscious mind at work) and you will probably be giving yourself some bad advice.

Conversely, even though your intuition has a silent voice, it is a very clear and powerful one. You just need to relax and trust it. After all, you are the one who programmed it. You put in the

practice time required to ensure accurate and reliable feedback, didn’t you. Or did you?

I know the mention of practice is probably not what you want to hear. In today’s hectic world, few people have time for a lot of practice. If possible, they would much rather purchase “systems” that guarantee every shot automatically works the way they want it to. But the unfortunate truth is that such systems do not exist. And as another friend of mine once pointed out: wouldn’t a guaran-teed system take all the fun out of the game, anyway? What he specifically said was, “Isn’t the fun in not knowing if the shot will go?” Well, maybe.

Tafoya Notches First Kitty’s Win

Angel Tafoya held off Brian Poore to win her first ever Kitty’s tournament at the July 7’s & Under on July 2nd.

The event was a “race to handicap” event, and Tafoya won the hot-seat with a 5-4 win over Leo Satterfield (Angel went to 5, Leo went to 6).

On the one loss side, Brian Poore was bouncing back nicely from a second round loss to Larry Olson. Poore had ridden the left side of the board and had first place in his sights.

Poore eliminated Satterfield 7-6 and got ready to take on Tafoya in the true double elimination finals.

Poore’s great play continued as he beat Tafoya 7-2 in the first set, but the sec-ond set stayed close as Angel scored the 5-5 win for 1st place and $130 in prize money. Poore settled for $70.

Kitty Comes Close on July 4th

Kitty provided BBQ and tables, while a field of sixteen players provided the fireworks at Kitty’s 7’s and Under on the Fourth of July.

Top players in the field included Hopell Ampongan, Johnny Garcia and Chad Lovelace, but it was room owner Kitty Carroll who blasted her competition on the winners side and captured the hot-seat with a 3-2 win.

Kitty’s opponent for the hot-seat was not going to be satisfied with third though and eliminated Ampongan to earn another shot at Kitty in the finals.

It was only Kitty’s third time in the hot-seat over 18 years, and the pressure may have gotten to her as her opponent took advantage of a couple good rolls to sneak by Carroll 3-0 and 3-0 in the double elimination finals.

Carroll earned $100 for second place with the sidepots.

Mike Howerton won the event.

Randy & Jim are Money at Kitty’s

Kitty’s 6-25: 15 brave teams weathered the heat to play the monthly scotch doubles tournament. Each team was eager to win their part of over $ 900.00, in prize money.

After a grueling afternoon of tough competition, the hot seat match came down to Randy Kinney and his partner Jim Money against Steve Henderson and his partner Dan young. This match was a see saw battle to the very end, with Randy and Jim winning the hot seat.

Later, Steve and Dan played Gary Hall and Joe Wiley for 3rd place. Not to be denied, Steve and Dan really showed their skills, which made for an exciting match. For their efforts Gary and Joe placed 3rd and took home $ 140.00.

This set up a rematch between Randy and Jim playing Steve and Dan. After many tense moments, Randy and Jim came away with the hill-hill win. For their efforts, Steve and Dan took 2nd place bringing home $ 280.00. Randy and Jim took 1st place and garnered $ 550.00.

Kitty provided a great place to play, good service and a friendly atmosphere. Hope to see you all again next month.

After an after-noon of great pool, the hot seat match was between the team of Dean Martin and Todd Dilly against the team of Tami Hathcock and Collin Sayler. Following some exciting moments, Todd and Dean won the hot seat.

The matches for 5th and 6th found Brad Johnson and Amanda Pulley battling Hoppel and Steve Smith. Hoppel and Steve came away with $ 70.00. At the same time, Chris Carpenter and Jim Digrigorio were pitted against Jack Mayer and Johnny Garcia. For their efforts, Chris and Jim also came away with $ 70.00.

The 4th place match was an exciting hill-hill match with Brad and Amanda against Jack and Johnny. Jack and Johnny won 4th place and received $ 160.00.

This set up the 3rd place match between Brad and Amanda versus Tami and Collin. This was also another hill-hill match with Brad and Amanda taking 3rd place and $ 230.00, for their share of the prize.

Due to the lateness of the hour, the teams of Dean and Todd and Tami and Col-lin decided to split, With Dean and Todd winning $ 710.00, including side pots and Collin and Tami winning $ 200.00 for their efforts.

As always, Skip and Jan’s provided a great venue, excellent food and great service. Hope to see everyone there next month.

Sheffer scores undefeated win at Skip & JansIn its 4th week, Skip & Jan’s new Monday night OPEN tournament drew a strong field of 12 players. As the field dwindled down, the final 4 players on the winner’s side in-cluded Keith Shef-fer (B) against Ray Robles (A) and Bret Huth (A) against Angel Paglia (B).

Both Keith and Brett would win their respective matches be set for the hot seat match which Keith was able to win. Over on the one loss side, Art St. Ger-maine (B), fresh off a strong performance at the BCAPL nationals in Vegas, was making his way through the one loss side with some very good wins. Awaiting Art on the one loss side was Angel and she was able to defeat Art by a score of 4 to 1, leaving Art in 4th place.

Next up for Angel was Brett and he was able to take advantage of a few key mistakes by Angel early and move on into the finals with a score of 5 to 3.

With Angel left in 3rd place, this left a rematch of the hot seat match from ear-lier between Brett and Keith. However, the result was the same as before and Keith defeated Brett in the extended race finals.

Congratulations to Keith Sheffer and all the other players that placed in the money.
