On the lonely paths through life, you are smoothing the way for us.

Wherever we are,.we find you,.Crafter of Creation.

(*Please stand for items marked with an asterisk.)
Call to Worship
Leader: In the presence of God, we gather:
People: people burdened and looking for comfort; folks whose
spirits need a makeover.
Leader: Like little children,.we surround God:
People: hoping for that touch which will refresh us; longing to
be embraced in arms of love.
Leader: We look, and find a feast has been prepared for us:
People: bread which will give us life anew; the cup which
overflows with grace and hope.
*Hymn - “Lamb of God” STF #2113
*Prayer of Confession
Leader: We wander from hope to hope, thinking the next person,
the next book, the next new thing will lead us in the ways
in which we long to live. Yet, if we open our eyes and pay
attention,.we will see the Good Shepherd,.the One who
will bring us into the kingdom of God's mercy and hope,
even as we confess all the foolish mistakes we have done,
and all the wrong turns we have made. Join me, as we
pray saying,
ALL: You long to fill us with your comfort and peace, Still
Waters of Grace, but we continue to take on more
anxiety, more worry, more fear. You would comfort us in
the gentleness of your hope, but we welcome the
embrace of a world spinning more and more out of
control. You would feed us with more than we need, but
we continue to hunger for the sweet sensations offered
to us by temptation.
You keep your promises and offer us forgiveness and
mercy all the days of our life. May we keep our eyes
focused on the path you have shaped for us; may we
listen to the call of the Good Shepherd who leads us
into your joy, that kingdom prepared for us by Jesus
Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Silent prayers may be offered
*Words of Assurance
Leader: This is the good news: wherever we are, God is with us;
whoever we are, God forgives us, and offers us new life.
People: Surely goodness and mercy are the companions we
have been longing for, faithful friends as we continue
our journey as God's people. Amen.
*Response - “O How He Loves You and Me” STF #2108
O how he loves you and me! O how he loves you and me!
He gave his life. What more could he give?
O how he loves you; O how he loves me;
O how he loves you and me!
Jesus to Calv’ry did go; his love for sinners to show.
What he did there brought hope from despair.
O how he loves you; O how he loves me;
O how he loves you and me!
*Sharing of the Peace
Leader: The peace of Christ be with you.
People: And also with you.
PROCLAIM GOD’S WORD
Children’s Sermon
(Children will remain in service with parents.)
Musical Offering Old Testament Lesson: Psalm 23 (unison) The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures;
he leads me beside still waters; he restores my soul.
He leads me in right paths for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil;
for you are with me; your rod and your staff - they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me, in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord my whole life long.
*Hymn - “The King of Love My Shepherd Is” PH #171
Gospel Lesson: John 10:7-18 (p.977)
Sermon: “Windows of Christ - The Good Shepherd” The Rev. Dr. Katherine G. Killebrew
RESPONSE TO THE WORD
*Affirmation of Faith - PCUSA Brief Statement of Faith ( Jesus Part) We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God. Jesus proclaimed
the reign of God: preaching good news to the poor and release to
the captives, teaching by word and deed and blessing the children,
healing the sick and binding up the brokenhearted, eating with
outcasts, forgiving sinners, and calling all to repent and believe the
gospel.
Unjustly condemned for blasphemy and sedition, Jesus was
crucified, suffering the depths of human pain and giving his life
for the sins of the world. God raised this Jesus from the dead,
vindicating his sinless life, breaking the power of sin and evil,
delivering us from death to life eternal.
Offering
“So lead me now, Good Shepherd, and I will follow you.
I'll live my life in fullness just as you call me to.
May your life and your light shine through me in such a way
that others too may know this: My Shepherd is the Way”
-Brenton Prigge
Musical Offering - “Shepherds Cradle Song” - piano solo
*Doxology - PH#592
“Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.”
*Prayer of Dedication
Prayers of the People
Leader: The Lord be with you
People: And also with you. Leader: Let us pray. Prayers of Praise, Thanksgiving, and Intercession...
All: Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil:
For Thine is the kingdom, and the power,
and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Please join us in the Dining Room for refreshments and fellowship time.
