the fullest, right up until the time he passed, doing all the things that he loved: family, watching grandson race cars, golf, motorcycles, working on projects at the house and most importantly his walk with the Lord. He has always been a soldier of

God and dedicated much of his time doing so. Lyman served in the United States Army, during the Korean War. He spent two years in the Army with time spent in Korea and Japan. In 1952, Lyman married his wife Peg and settled down in New London, Ohio where he worked at the A&P store for 10 years and then for Nickles Bakery for 10 years. In 1969, Lyman moved his family out west to the state of Arizona where he worked as a machinist for the copper mines, retiring after 23 years. Lyman is survived by his wife, Peg Radcliffe; sons, Dan, Ron and Dennis Radcliffe and their

spouses; daughter, Debra Soules and her spouse; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Lyman’s passion was for growing the Kingdom not the Castle but he also realized the need for a central place to celebrate the Joy in His relationship with Jesus Christ. This passion was refl ected in his time and energy with the Kearny Southern Baptist Church. By John Hernandez San Manuel was built as a company town for Magma Copper Company in 1953. Mine workers from all over the world came to work in the thriving copper mine, mill and smelter. My family arrived in San Manuel in 1956. Looking back it was a great place to grow up.

It is hard to believe that the smokestacks that were once a landmark are now gone. You could see them from miles away coming down the hill from Oracle or up the hill from Mammoth. They let you know you were getting close to home. The Magma Mine was once the largest

underground copper mine in the world but those days are gone. Mother Magma is no more. We will miss her but not forget what this town meant to the many of us that grew up here or worked at the mine. On Saturday October 8, the Copper Town Association is hosting

the Second Annual Copper Town Days. It is a time for anyone and everyone that ever lived in San Manuel, worked for the companies (Magma and BHP), or was a part of the Tri-Community to come together share their memories and feelings about San Manuel. The public is also invited

to come and meet the people from this small copper town. Copper Town Days will have a car show, youth soccer tournament, vendors, food and drink and live entertainment. Performers include Mariachi Luz, Desert Boyz and Haywire. There will also be

Uptown Fights at San Manuel High School. Events begin at noon but at 8 a.m. there will be a free pancake breakfast with Sheriff Paul Babeu. Sit down and chat with the Sheriff. Copper Town Days should be a great day of fun and getting together with old and new friends.

Copper Town Days set for this weekend

By Jennifer R. Carnes Why is it that humans have such a huge learning curve when it comes to parenting? I’ve been a mother for 12 years now and I still struggle with the concept. It has become more clear to me in the three weeks since out family expanded to include six puppies that

still haven’t got a clue about all the aspects of parenting. Here are a few of my observations: • Humans (at least those of us not considered to be “earth mothers”) have no idea how to breastfeed. We take classes and have visits in the hospital from “lactation experts.”

My Schnauzer didn’t need to take classes. She just automatically knows how to feed her babies. It’s been funny watching her interact with her babies. When they were first born, Penny would head into the whelping box to feed them. She would stand herself right over the puppy pile and then sit

Life lessons are sometimes messyon them. Puppies would ooze out around her sides, finding the nearest teat and latching on. And when she was done feeding them,

Penny just stood up with puppies popping off her like overfull leeches – Penny’s version of “We’re all through playing now!”

• Humans isolate themselves at home with their brand new babies and then wonder why they have such bad cases of post partum depression. With the Schnauzer, not so much. True, she did spend the first day or two worrying over her brood, protecting them from perceived threats from her sister Dachshund. But since then she lets us know when she’s had enough. A bark from the “baby’s room” lets us know that she wants out. She heads outside for what we refer to as “adult conversation.” Sometimes it’s just going outside and barking once or twice to let the neighborhood know that she’s back and other times it’s a matter of getting back to the business of playing with the Dachshund. • Humans (at least us older moms) are very concerned about child development – when to take away the bottle, picking them up too much when they are crying, are they playing the way they should. Penny, it seems to me, cares only that the babies are fed and cleaned on a regular basis. She makes sure they are safe and not being handled too much. It’s been fun sharing the first couple of weeks of these new living creatures’ lives. I can’t wait to see what comes next.

Puppy pile ...OK, we’ve had at least one request (Lynn) for a puppy photo. So here you go. Aren’t they sweet? (Jenniffer Carnes photo)

By John Hernandez The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service is exploring the possibility of forming a collaborative conservation and management initiative in the lower San Pedro River. The area along the San Pedro River that would be managed extends from Winkelman south to an area approximately 15 miles past Cascabel. A two mile strip on both sides of the river would be in the managed area. A public meeting was held at the Aravaipa campus of Central Arizona College Thursday, Sept. 22. Many of the

ranchers, farmers, and other landowners on the San Pedro River between Winkelman and Redington attended. Local conservationists were in attendance also. They listened to a few speakers talk about the proposed initiative and were allowed to ask questions and voice their opinions. The majority of ranchers that spoke seemed to be against the idea of the initiative. Andy Smallhouse of the Carlink Ranch received a round of applause when he spoke about government agencies and conservationists

Conservation initiative proposed for San Pedro

putting more regulations on the rancher, making it harder to do everyday business which takes time away from managing the land. The San Pedro River is the last major free flowing undammed river in the southwest United States. It has major ecological importance as over 300 migratory bird species and 100 nesting species use the river as their habitat. More than two thirds of the aviary diversity can be seen along the river during the year. It is abundant with animal life including 80 species of mammals and 65 species of amphibians and reptiles. The Fish and Wildlife Service will continue to hold public meetings concerning the initiative.

Valle del Sol recognizes Manriquez, Rios as 2011 honoreesdaunting task for anyone so young, María was determined to raise her daughter while fulfilling her dream of entering the medical field. With focus and enthusiasm, María earned her associate’s degree in nursing and then went on to earn her BS in Nursing. After working as a nurse for a several years, she became fascinated with the work and research being done by her physician colleagues. Inspired, she again returned to school, this time to medical school. By Nolberto Waddell The Hayden Lobo football team seemed to go into a trance when they took the field against the Sentinels Friday not believing what they were seeing, going into an apologetic mode for playing such a team. The ASDB team consisted of only nine football players and they soon showed the Hayden players that they were there to play football. The Lobos kicked off to start the game and held the ASDB team to three plays and a punt. The Lobos took the punt at the 42 yard line and proceeded on a nine play, 58 yard drive scoring on a 19 yard run by Aaron Lagunas. The two point try failed to give Hayden a 6 to 0 lead at 5:43 of the first quarter. The Sentinels soon took the Lobos out of their

The kick for the extra point failed to tie the score at 6 to 6 at 5:27 of the first period. A stunned Lobo team took the kick-off to the 29 yard line but a holding penalty brought the football back to the 14 yard line. After two runs for 29 yards by Eric Rivera, the Lobos attempted four passes, failing to complete any turning over the football on downs. Rodney Ortiz got the next call gaining 20 yards to the one yard line for a first and goal and Eric Rivera added the finish with a one yard plunge for the touchdown. The two point try failed to give Hayden a 12 to 6 lead at 10:48 of the second quarter. ASDB took the kick-off but were soon stopped at their 25 yard line when Francisco Moreno forced a fumble on his tackle that was recovered by Gabriel Encinas. The now excited Lobos wasted little time scoring on the first play when Cabrera found a wide open Roman Padilla connecting for a 25 yard touchdown pass. Cabrera ran the ball over for the two points to give Hayden a 20 to 6 lead at 9:28 of the second period. The Sentinels went on offense but could not move the chains having to punt the football. Rivera, trying to break loose on the punt return, fumbled the ball with the Sentinels recovering at the 30 yard line. Three plays and a personal foul penalty had ASDB at the 10 yard line with a first and goal but the Hayden defense toughened stopping the Sentinels with an Eric Rivera interception. Thomas Cabrera connected with Rodney Ortiz for a 32 yard pass completion but Ortiz fumbled the football when tackled with ASDB recovering. They did not keep the football long. On the next play Thomas Cabrera intercepted the Sentinel pass attempt. After two runs for a first down, Thomas Cabrera dropped back to pass, found Roman Padilla open again hitting him with a 30

yard scoring pass. Cabrera took care of the two point try to give Hayden a 28 to 6 lead at 3:34 of the second quarter. The Lobos kicked off. The Sentinels went on offense turning the football over again on a hard tackle by Cabrera that forced a fumble that he recovered. Two pass completions by Cabrera and a horse collar tackle penalty on the Sentinels had the Lobos at the 10 yard line. Eric Rivera took care of the 10 yards on an untouched run into the end zone, ran the ball over for two points to give Hayden a 36 to 6 lead as the first half clock was coming to an end. The second half started with the Hayden coaches playing mostly the young players who do not see much action and they responded very well. The young Lobos could not move the chains returning the football to ASDB. They did not keep the ball for long returning it to the Lobos on a fumble recovery by Francisco Moreno. The Lobos returned the favor fumbling the hand-off on the next play with ASDB recovering. Three plays netted the Sentinels a negative three yards forcing a punt. The Lobo offense, a mix of veteran and young players, took the football down the field aided by a 40 yard pass play from Cabrera to Padilla on a fourth down play finally taking the football over the goal line on a 16 yard run by Rivera who also scored on the two point play to give Hayden a 44 to 6 lead at 2:43 of the third quarter. After a discussion by the officials and the coaches, the tired Sentinels said they had had enough but the Hayden coaches agreed to play only reserves and the game went on with a running clock. The Sentinels kept the football for the remainder of the third quarter an into most

of the start of the fourth quarter. The Sentinels moved the football to the 21 yard line but were facing a fourth down at the 21 yard line. They decided to try a field goal that resulted in a bad snap from center returning the football to the Lobos. The young Lobo offense took the football, went on a drive scoring from 43 yards out on a run by Aaron Lagunas. The two point play was stopped giving the Lobos a 50 to 6 score as the running clock finally ran out of minutes. The fortitude of the Sentinel football players not giving up and playing tough football got the respect of the Lobo coaches and players and the respect of the huge group of Lobo fans that attended the game. After the slow start, the Lobo offense came to life running a total of 52 plays from scrimmage for 481 yards of total offense with 296 yards coming on 35 rushes and 185 yards coming on nine completions on 17 pass attempts. The Lobo offense scored seven touchdowns, had four 2-point plays but fumbled the football away twice. Thomas Cabrera completed the nine passes on the 17 attempts and also ran the football four times for 63 yards scoring two 2-point plays. Roman Padilla was on the receiving end of six passes gaining 126 yards scoring two touchdowns and ran two times for 14 yards. Eric Rivera caught one pass for 19 yards and rushed 13 times for 100 yards scored three rushing touchdowns and had two 2-point tries. Adrian Ochoa, leaving the game early in the first period with an injury, had eight yards on two carries and caught one pass for another eight yards. Rodney Ortiz rushed for 30 yards on seven carries and also caught one pass for 32 yards. Aaron Lagunas

carried the football nine times gaining 81 yards and scored two touchdowns. The Lobo defense was dominating! They held the Sentinels to a total of 58 yards on 45 plays from scrimmage. The Lobo defense, with 13 negative yard tackles, allowed only 40 yards rushing on 35 plays causing eight fumbles recovering three. The Lobo defense gave up three completions on 10 pass attempts for 18 yards and had two pass interceptions. Every player on the Lobo roster had at least one tackle led by Francisco Moreno who had a great game from his defensive nose tackle position getting nine tackles, forced three fumbles and recovered one. Rodney Ortiz got 10 tackles forcing one fumble with Thomas Cabrera getting four tackles, forced two fumbles recovering one and had a pass interception. Eric Rivera had three tackles and a pass interception. Robert Sandoval had three tackles. Gabriel Encinas had a quarterback sack, a tackle and recovered a fumble. Steven Butler contributed five tackles with Ezekiel Boltarez getting four tackles. Gabriel Ramos, Roman Padilla, Aaron Lagunas, Juan Diego Hernandez and Antonio Medina each got credit for two tackles apiece with Angel Gonzales getting one tackle. Derrick Benavidez had a tackle forcing a fumble. Adrian Ochoa had one tackle before leaving the game with an injury. Things will be tougher for the Lobos this Friday when they try to avenge their loss to the Tigers of St. David and their highly regarded quarterback traveling to St. David for the game. Hopefully the big fan base that attended the ASDB game will be in St. David to cheer on the Lobos. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m. on the Tiger field.

By Richard Bravo The Bearcats traveled to Pima Friday night to take on the undefeated Pima Roughriders in a hard fought game that found the Bearcats on the losing end. The game started with the Roughriders receiving the opening kick-off and taking the ball to their own 20 yard line. It didn’t take long for the Roughriders’ offense to strike as the offensive line opened a huge hole allowing a Roughrider running back to sprint 70 yards for the fi rst score of the game. The two point conversion was good, putting the Roughriders up 8-0 with 11:02 left in the fi rst quarter. The Bearcats responded when Jacob Wernett took the hand off on their

second play of their fi rst possession and scored the Bearcats’ fi rst touchdown. Daniel Harmon added the point after kick to cut the lead to 8-7 with 10:11 left in the fi rst quarter. Pima answered back with a seven play drive that ended with a one yard touchdown run with a failed two point conversion to put the Roughriders up 14-7 with 5:47 left in the fi rst quarter. The Bearcats put together a drive down to the Roughrider 10 yard line, only to be denied when the Roughrider defense intercepted quarterback Destry Yocums pass in the end zone. The quarter came to an end with the Roughriders leading 14-7. The second quarter started as the Roughriders

put together an eight play drive when their running back took the ball in from seven yards out to put them up 20-7 with 9:10 left in the quarter. The Bearcat offense put a drive together deep into Roughrider territory only to turn it over on downs as the Roughrider defense held the Bearcats scoreless. The Roughriders would again put another drive together running 60 yards in 10 plays fi nishing it with a three yard run to extend the lead to 26-7 with 3:40 left in the quarter. The Bearcats put a nice drive together when Yocum connected with receivers Dominic Bravo, Alex Carerra, and Jacob Wernett on multiple completions down to the Roughrider 35 yard line, only to

have the drive halted on the following play on another interception by the Roughrider defense. The second quarter would end with the Bearcats trailing 26-7 at the half. The Bearcats received the second half kick-off at their own 40 yard line, but a fumble on the play gave the Roughriders good fi eld possession to start the half. The Roughriders did not waste any time as the run attack needed just fi ve plays to fi nd the end zone on six yard run to bring the score to 32-7 with 10:27 left in the quarter. The Bearcats’ offensive continued to struggle as the Roughriders intercepted another Yocum pass at the Bearcat 40 yard line to set up a three play 12 yard run to extend the

Bearcats suff er loss to undefeated Roughriderslead to 38-7 with 8:21 to play in the third quarter. The Roughriders’ defense held the Bearcats once again forcing a punt by Daniel Harmon to the Roughrider 37 yard line. Roughriders needed just six plays to reach the end zone as the Roughrider quarterback dropped back on a rare pass attempt to connect with his receiver on a 35 yard touchdown pass to bring the score to 46-7 with 2:33 left in the quarter. The fourth quarter of play found both teams playing good defense as they exchanged possessions on turnovers and punts. The Bearcats drove down the fi eld as Yocum connected with Bravo on a 42 yard pass down to the Roughrider 30. Yocum found Bravo once again on a 29 yard pass pick up to the Roughrider 1. Yocum capped the drive with a quarterback sneak; the two point conversion was added to put the score to 46-15 with 3:50 left in the game. The roughriders took the next possession marching down the fi eld 11 plays ending the drive with a two yard run to put the fi nal score at 15-52. The Bearcats were able to move the ball, but

turnovers plagued their scoring opportunities. Yocum led the passing attack going 14-28 for 163 yards and fi ve interceptions. The Bearcats ran the ball 20 times for 111 yards led by Wernett who had nine carries for 81 yards and a touchdown. Yocum had six carries for 25 yards and a touchdown. On the receiving end Bravo led all receivers with eight catches and 124 yards. Carerra had three receptions for 17 yards and Wernett had three receptions for 16 yards. Defensively the Bearcats were led by Yocum who had eight solo tackles and two assists. Joe Rudy Lorona and Wernett each had six solos and three assists with Lorona recording two sacks for negative 11 yards. Also helping out on defense were Bravo, Carerra and Seth Harmon with four tackles each. Ryan Bickley and Jacob Pace had three tackles a piece with Bickley adding a sack for negative 10 yards. The Bearcats will be traveling to Elfrida on Friday to take on the Valley Union Blue Devils. Hope to see you out there to show our boys your support!

Tony J. Meza (TJ) is moving into the big leagues. Well, the big university leagues. TJ is a 2010 graduate from Ray High School and the son of Tony M. and Ramona Meza of Kearny. Last year, TJ attended CAC at Signal Peak Campus (2010-2011), fall and spring semester, on a two-year scholarship, making the Dean’s List both semesters. This year (2011-2012) TJ is in Pennsylvania, attending the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. His goal was to try out for and make the baseball team and he succeeded in making both the fall and spring baseball leagues. He will now be playing baseball for the University back in Pennsylvania, with some games scheduled in Arizona in the spring. TJ is still unsure of his major, but his minor is Spanish and he’s hoping to travel abroad to a foreign country to pursue that. TJ’s parents, siblings, uncles and aunts are very proud of him.

Esteemed visitor ...

By Nolberto Waddell The Lady Lobo volleyball team had only one match scheduled this week taking on the Lady Apaches from Ft. Thomas on Tuesday. For some reason, the Lady Lobo team that has been winning did not show up for this contest. The Ft. Thomas team had lost to the Lady Lobos earlier in the season taking them to five sets before losing to the Lobos and they came to Lobo Gym ready to play. The Lady Lobos, missing two starters due to injury, were not the same team, standing around not moving, not talking and their serving was just not there. Time after time their serves

kept going into the net or out of bounds and their play at the net was not as strong as it has been with little dinks over the net instead of their hard spikes. The result: a 20 to 25 loss in the first set. The second set was much the same with the serves going into the net, the spikes hitting out of bounds or easily returned and the defense on their heels on the hard spikes from the Lady Apaches that resulted in a 15 to 25 second set loss. The Lady Lobos finally came to life in the third set as the team rallied behind the serving of Melissa Islava and played the volleyball game the fans have gotten accustomed in the 25 to 17 win to

Lady Lobos post loss to Ft. Thomastrail the Lady Apaches one set to two. The fourth set was a return to the form the Lady Lobos had in the first two sets; not moving, not talking, not getting their serves in and watched the Lady Apaches hand them a 19 to 25 defeat to win the match over the Lobos. The Lady Lobo JV looked like they were on

their way to another win easily defeating the Lady Apache JV in the first set with their great team play, good defense and good serving to win set one 25 to 14. The Lady Lobo JV for some reason quit playing their brand of volleyball in the second set and watched the Lady Apaches win set two with a 20 to 25 score to even

the match. The third and final set was all Lady Apaches. The Lady Lobos could not buy a good serve and could not return the Apache serves losing their first match of the season when they dropped the third set 8 to 15. The Lady Lobos played in the Lady Roughrider Invitational Volleyball Tournament on Saturday

at Pima High School with results not available at press time. The Lady Lobos had only one match this week, traveling to San Carlos on Tuesday to take on the Lady Braves. They will have a two week lay-off, not playing again until Oct. 18 when Imagine Prep will come to Lobo Gym for a varsity only match.

Copper Basin area schools got an unique opportunity to engage students on the often dry, but very important subject of financial literacy this past week. Over 400 middle and high school students in Kearny and Winkelman participated in an innovative curriculum “Mad About Money” that teaches the importance of money, savings and investing through improvisation comedy. Bank of the West sponsored this program by bringing The National Theatre for Children to the schools. The 40-minute program is a live, interactive performance featuring professional actors who play a variety of characters and weave audience suggestions into pre-formatted scenarios.

Students learned how to prioritize needs and wants, the difference between cash and credit, and the importance of savings through three comical and informative sketches. In addition to the live performance, teachers and students are provided with educational materials such as teacher guides and workbooks containing home and on-line assignments. “Young people today are faced with a complex array of financial products and services to choose from,” said George Stanfield, Executive Vice President and head of Bank of the West Southwest Division. “Many of the kids attending these programs will soon be old enough to make financial decisions that could affect their lives

in the years to come. As part of our commitment to community, Bank of the West supports creative and engaging ways to bring important life lessons in financial education to the forefront, so that young people can make smart decisions as consumers”. By Georgie Wood([email protected]) During a short period when Aravaipa Creek had receded some before it really flooded big on January 19, 1993, a girl was surprisingly seen making her way down the creekbed by foot, and carrying a pair of skis. It was BLM Ranger Sue Morgan who was on her way to the Jep Whites’ property where her vehicle was parked because she was going on a ski trip! After well-liked Andrew “Andy” Wigg had let it be known in January of 1992 that he was going to quit his long-time BLM Ranger job in the Aravaipa Canyon Wilderness (ACW), BLM’s Katie Fenn filled that job for a short while before Sue Morgan became the Ranger previous to the January 1993 Aravaipa Creek floods. A few days after the ACW re-opened for hikers on March 7, 1993, Pinal County finished a temporary road just upstream of the Whites’, but hikers leaving their vehicles parked where they shouldn’t have caused a big problem. At an Aravaipa Property Owners Association (APOA) meeting on December 4, 1993, Brad Gair of Pinal County reported on the original three options of solving the road washout upstream of the Whites’ property. After the county had decided on option

three, to blast the face of the bluff where the road had washed out and use the extra rock to repair the washed-out road section near the upstream Larsen property, the county crews had created a small pond above the diversion, which a man who was doing a tortoise count saw and reported to Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), and the county was forced to remove their diking by hand! As I previously stated, the Endangered Species Act (ESA) of 1973 greatly influenced what could be done along and in Aravaipa Creek which was considered to be an important refuge for native fish. On April 15, 1994, the FWS issued their Final Biological Opinion, and FWS directed that the Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) construct in Aravaipa Creek two physical drop structures, in close proximity, that would act as barriers to upstream non-native fish movement. Despite the

ON THE APPLICATION OF ARIZONA WATER COMPANY FOR A PERMANENT RATE INCREASE ( DOCKET NO. W-01445A-11-0310)

SummaryOn August 5, 2011, Arizona Water Company ("AWC") filed with the Arizona Corporation Commission ("Commission") an application requesting adjustments to its rates and charges for utility service provided by its Eastern Group water systems, including its Superstition (Apache Junction, Superior, and Miami); Cochise (Bisbee and Sierra Vista); San Manuel; Oracle; SaddleBrooke Ranch; and Winkelman water systems. AWC's rate application uses a test year ending December 31, 2010, and requests an increase in revenues of $5,268,560, or approximately 25.68 percent over test year total operating revenues. In addition to requesting an overall increase in revenues, AWC's application proposes consolidation of the Bisbee and Sierra Vista water systems into the Cochise water system; consolidation of the San Manuel, Oracle, and SaddleBrooke Ranch water systems into the Falcon Valley water system; authorization of an arsenic cost recovery mechanism ("ACRM") for the Eastern Group water systems such as the ACRM authorized in Decision No. 71845 (August 25, 2010) for the Sedona and Superstition water systems; authorization to implement a Distribution System Improvement Charge ("DSIC"); authorization to implement Off-Site Facilities Fees of $3,500 and up for new service connections in the service area; and continuation of a Monitoring Assistance Program ("MAP") surcharge previously authorized for the Eastern Group water systems.

The Commission's Utilities Division ("Staff") is in the process of auditing and analyzing the application, and has not yet made any recommendations regarding AWC's proposed rate increase. The Commission will determine the appropriate relief to be granted based on the evidence presented by the parties. THE COMMISSION IS NOT BOUND BY THE PROPOSALS MADE BY AWC, STAFF, OR ANY INTERVENORS; THEREFORE, THE FINAL RATES APPROVED BY THE COMMISSION MAY DIFFER FROM AND MAY BE HIGHER OR LOWER THAN THE RATES REQUESTED BY AWC OR RECOMMENDED BY OTHER PARTIES.

How You Can View or Obtain a Copy of the Rate ProposalCopies of the application and proposed rates are available from AWC at AWC's corporate office located at 3805 North Black Canyon Highway, Phoenix, Arizona 85015 and at the Commission's Docket Control Center at 1200 West Washington, Phoenix, Arizona, for public inspection during regular business hours, and on the Internet via the Commission's website (www.azcc.gov) using the e-Docket function.

Arizona Corporation Commission Public Hearing InformationThe Commission will hold a hearing on this matter in Hearing Room No. 1 at the Commission's offices at 1200 West Washington Street, Phoenix, Arizona 85007. The hearing will commence on May 14, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. Oral public comments will be taken on the first day of hearing.

2. A short statement of your interest in the proceeding (e.g., a customer of AWC, a shareholder of AWC, etc.); and

3. A statement certifying that you have mailed a copy of the motion to intervene to AWC or its counsel and to all parties of record in the case.

The granting of motions to intervene shall be governed by A.A.C. R14-3-105, except that all motions to intervene must be filed on or before December 30, 2011. For information about requesting intervention, visit the Commission's website at http://www.azcc.gov/divisions/utilities/forms/interven.pdf. The granting of intervention, among other things, entitles a party to present sworn evidence at hearing and to cross-examine other witnesses. However, failure to intervene will not preclude any interested person or entity from appearing at the hearing and providing public comment on the application or from filing written comments in the record of the case.

Persons with a disability may request a reasonable accommodation such as a sign language interpreter, as well as request this document in an alternative format, by contacting the ADA Coordinator, Shaylin Bernal, E-mail [email protected], voice phone number 602-542-3931. Requests should be made as early as possible to allow time to arrange the accommodation.

fact that the Aravaipa creekbed was usually dry for quite a distance from the creek’s mouth at the San Pedro River, they believed non-native fish could swim into the San Pedro River from the Gila River, and then make it up Aravaipa Creek to where the endangered fish were. The design of the barriers had to be mutually agreed upon by BOR, FWS, and Arizona Game and Fish Department (AGFW), with appropriate input from experts in different fields. Of course, there was the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the law that requires Federal Agencies to evaluate the potential environmental consequences of major Federal action and requires full public disclosure about the proposed action, accompanying alternatives, impacts, and mitigation. Land owners along Aravaipa Creek felt their opinions didn’t amount to much to those Federal Agencies. In fact, it was said that at one APOA meeting, a FWS woman remarked that no humans should be allowed to live along Aravaipa Creek!

The price of Copper has been slowly dropping over the past few weeks; the drop has been attributed to the unfavorable economic situations in Europe. The site will include five solar projects, one or more of these projects may be used on the administrative headquarters and other mine buildings. The five projects are:• A 10.8-kW concentrating photovoltaic project installed by Parsons Electric, using modules from Energy Innovations with lenses that concentrate sunlight on high-efficiency silicon PV cells, on mounts that track the sun morning to evening and season to season.• A 19.7-kW system installed by Empire Power Systems that uses Kyocera polycrystalline silicon cells and single-axis tracking.• A 20.7-kW fixed-tilt array installed by Solar Gain, using QS Solar thin-film amorphous

silicon modules.• A 19.3-kW system by Solar Gain, using flexible, thin-film semiconductor panels made by Tucson-based Global Solar Energy and mounted on a membrane laid on the ground.• A 19.4-kW polycrystalline silicon system installed by Tucson-based Solon Corp., using Solon panels and fixed-rack mounting. Resolution Copper – The Town of Superior will review a proposal to allow Resolution Copper to tap into the towns waste water treatment plant. The

Council may vote to approve the agreement on Oct. 6. This particular agreement is necessary because the Resolution Copper Mine Project is outside of the incorporated town limits of Superior.
