Also involved in the accident were two other motorcycles and a Corvette. According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a black 2006 Suzuki motorcycle being driven by Dennis Flynn, 64, Glen Rock, Wyoming,

He lost control of the motorcycle, causing the driver of the black 2001 Chevrolet Corvette identified as Robert Wilson of Kearny to take evasive action. The driver of a purple 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle, Ralph Benson, 63, Jamestown, North Dakota, clipped the Corvette and both Benson and

his passenger and wife, Kathy Benson, 52, were launched from the motorcycle. The driver of a purple 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle, Dennis McDonald, 66, Airdrie, Alberta, Canada, also collided with the Corvette and was launched from his motorcycle. By Mila Lira On Wednesday, March 28, the Town of Kearny Chief of Police Joseph Martinez was placed on a paid administrative leave.

Details leading to Martinez’s administrative leave have not been released to the media by the Town due to laws regarding personnel

issues. Martinez has been employed by the Town of Kearny for seven years. When asked if there was going to be an investigation or some

kind of disciplinary hearing regarding the placement of Martinez on administrative leave, Margaret Gaston, acting Town Manager, replied,

“No comment at this time.” At this time the Kearny Police Department is operating as usual under direction from Officer

Norris who has been a lead officer for the department. The Town Council has not officially appointed Norris as the acting police chief.

Compiled by Mila Lira At press time Copper was be-ing sold at $3.94 a pound. This price reflects a penny overnight increase. On March 21, Governor Brew-er signed Senate Bill 1054 which will allow mining companies to allow 12 hour shifts for under-ground workers. This bill which was introduced by Resolution Copper will take effect on July 19, 2012. Previous state law only allowed mining companies to allow for eight hour shifts underground in a 24 hour period; that law was written well before federal mining regulations and modern mining methods were put into effect. Officials from Resolution Copper explained that at this time this bill would potentially affect 90 of their 500 employees and contractors. Resolution does not plan on immediately moving to 12 hours shifts but is considering 10 hour shifts.Resolution Copper Work continues to progress on the development of the number 10 and number 9 shafts at the

Resolution Copper Project. At this time the company is report-ing that the number 10 shaft is currently at 5,340 feet under-ground. The number nine shaft, which is undergoing rehabilita-tion, is currently at 3,020 feet. The number nine shaft is being modernized and rehabilitated.Freeport McMoRan Copper & Gold Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc has declared a quar-terly cash dividend of $0.3125 on common stock to the holders of record as of April 13, 2012. As previously announced in February 2012, FCX’s Board of Directors authorized an increase in the annual cash dividend on its common stock from $1.00 per share to $1.25 per share, payable quarterly at a rate of $0.3125 per share. The declara-tion and payment of dividends is at the discretion of FCX’s Board of Directors and will depend on FCX’s financial results, cash requirements, future prospects, and other factors deemed rel-evant by the Board.Excelsior – Gunnison Project

Excelsior Mining Corp. an-nounced that it has engaged Haley & Aldrich, a national underground and environmental consulting firm with significant project permitting expertise, to develop a comprehensive per-mitting plan for the North Star deposit at the Company’s Gunni-son Copper Project in southeast Arizona. Excelsior has engaged Haley & Aldrich to support the comple-tion of two related tasks;• To design a hydrological pro-gram that will lead to a more complete understanding of North Star’s hydro-geologicalcondi-tions. • To provide environmental, en-gineering and strategic services related to hydrologic studies that will lead to the successful per-mitting of the project. Excelsior also announced that they have commenced their 2012 drilling program at the Gunnison Copper Project. The program has begun with the uti-lization of both a diamond drill rig and a reverse circulation drill rig. The first series of drill holes

are being completed in order to acquire additional metallurgical data. Subsequent drilling will focus on additional hydrological and geological data acquisition, with the goal of the entire 2012 program being the completion of a pre-feasibility study by year’s end. “We are excited to be back drilling on Gunnison again,” stated Stephen Twyerould, Presi-dent and CEO of Excelsior. “We have set an ambitious program for 2012 and, now that it is un-derway, we are looking forward to making significant progress in advancing the Gunnison project as quickly as possible.” The program is designed to advance the project geologically, hydrologically and metallurgi-cally. The resultant data will be used to optimize well field design, leaching solution com-position, as well as provide criti-cal information for groundwater quality control and ultimately, project reclamation, all of which will be essential as the project moves forward in the permitting process.

Mining Report

Tombstone Exploration Pro-gram Tombstone Exploration Cor-poration announced that the Company has received approval for State Exploration Permits for minerals, including gold, silver and copper in the eastern edge of the Tombstone Mining District. The additional permits, ap-proved, encompass 2,163 acres in Cochise County, Tombstone, Arizona, adjacent to the 100 percent Company-owned Zebra property of 2,000 acres. The Zebra Prospect is an epithermal disseminated gold property located in Cochise County, Arizona, approximately three miles southeast of the

town of Tombstone, in T20S, R23E, Sections 20, 21, 27, 28, 29, 32, 33 and 34. The property totals 4,163 acres and consists entirely of State land for which Arizona State Prospecting Per-mits have been secured. It is believed that the prospect lies within the metallogenic zonation halo of the Tombstone District. The shallow ores of the central district were known to be high in silver and lower in gold. Con-versely, and in accordance with zonational patterns, the Zebra Property has high gold, and rela-tively moderate silver values. During a detailed mapping program during the 1980s, thir-

Flood Insurance CoverageOne of the most important ways to prepare for a flood is to buy flood

coverage.Most homeowners insurance policies do

not cover flood damage. State Farm’s homeowner policies do not provide

coverage for flood. If your community participates in the National Flood

Insurance Program, you can buy a flood insurance policy through your agent. Most flood insurance is written through the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), which is administered by the

Federal Emergency management Agency (FEMA). State Farm agents enrolled in the NFIP Direct

Program are able to write and service flood insurance coverage directly through the federal government program, NFIP Direct. A flood insurance policy

normally takes 30 days from the date of purchase to go into effect. So, don’t wait until a flood is

imminent to buy a policy. For more information, call:

The Easter Bunny will be making his usual stop in Kearny on Saturday, April 7, to leave lots of colorful eggs for the kiddies to fi nd at the annual Easter Egg Hunt at the park. The hunt is slated to start promptly at 9 a.m. Unfortunately, with all the growing population of the world, this means less and less time to be spent in delivering eggs and hiding them for Mr. E. Bunny, so he is seeking helpful volunteers who love to put a smile on the face of young children. The members of the Junior Chamber of Commerce are assisting, but, with over 1,000 eggs to hide in the park, more volunteers are needed. Can you help? Please call 520-363-5574 if you have at least a little time and energy to donate to this fun, frolicsome annual event. The Town of Hayden will be receiving its supply of eggs from Mr. E. Bunny

The Ray Junior High baseball team fought off a near collapse in their game against Hayden last Wednesday to defeat the Lobos 10-8 in Winkelman. The Cats got off to a strong start as Ray’s Brett Fackiner started the

scoring with a two out RBI double to left. Kenneth Palmer drove in another two runs with a sharp single to centerfi eld in the inning. Austin Huffman then laid down a perfect bunt driving in a run and then later scored on a

Ray Junior ‘Cats sweep the Lobospassed ball. On defense, Jonathan Wernett was strong on the mound early but Hayden mounted a comeback scoring 3 runs off Wernett. Ray Coach Matt Roseberry went to his bullpen and brought in Kenneth Palmer who shut the door on the Lobos in the fourth and fi fth innings. In the sixth however, Palmer ran into trouble and left with the bases full of Lobos. Austin Huffman inherited the runners and tried to get things in order but the Lobos scored 5 runs and closed the score to 10-8

before Ray’s closer Austin Collings was beckoned to get the fi nal out of the game. Collings induced the Lobo batter to fl y out to right fi eld to end the game and seal the win for the Cats. In softball action, Ray pitcher Stormee Galka wasn‘t as sharp as she usually is by issuing 4 walks, but still managed to strike out 9 Lobo batters, and gave up no hits in a 7-0 win against Hayden. The win increases the Cats’ record to 5-0 on the season and gives them a

two game lead in the CJHL standings. Ray scored a run in the second inning as Savannah Willis led off with a single, and scored on an RBI single by Gabby Juvera. In the third inning, the Cats added 3 more runs on an RBI single by Arcelia Lopez and a two run double off the bat of Alyssa Sotelo. In the

fourth inning, the Cats added insurance runs as Sarah Duncklee doubled in Galka and Dany West who had each singled. The fi nal run came in the top of the fi fth on consecutive singles by Sotelo, Juvera and Gabby Montano. The Cats played San Manuel on Monday and travel to Eloy on Wednesday.

The Kearny Elks Club #2478 held a horseshoe tournament on Saturday in conjunction with Kearny Pioneer Days. The tournament was organized and run by Ron Buckley who recently rebuilt the horseshoe pits for the club. There were 16 entries for the tourney and it was

Under the bright new lights at the San Carlos softball field the Ray Bearcat softball played their first night game and probably their best game of the season to date. The Ray hitters saw the ball real well all night as they collected 14 hits and 17 runs in a 17-3 rout of

San Carlos last Friday night. Annie Hinojos, who threw a complete game on the mound, struck out six and issued only one walk in the win. Hinojos also led the Cat hit parade by going 3-4 at the plate with 4 RBIs. Shortstop Angela Fuentes went 2-2 with two walks,

a double and utilized her speed by hitting an inside the park homer in a six run first inning. Third baseman Ashley Meza continued her torrid hitting, as the sophomore went 3-3 with a double and a towering homerun over the centerfield wall that made the San Carlos announcer

utter the words, “that ball has left the reservation!” Meza finished the day with 4 RBIs. Along with the six runs that crossed the plate for Ray in the first inning, the Cats put up four more runs in the second and seven more in the middle innings before the game

Lady Bearcats defeat San Carloswas called in the fifth by the 10 run rule. Other Bearcats contributing at the plate were Taeler Harmon 1-3 (RBI), Leah Wallace, 1-2 (2 RBI), Christianna Martinez, 1-2, Lucy Sainz 1-2 (RBI) and Alicia Romero 1-1. Yesterday the Bearcats played San Carlos at home and today they are

traveling to Tucson to take on second ranked and undefeated Pusch Ridge Christian Academy. As of last Monday the Bearcats are currently ranked #11 in the state power rankings. The Cats next home game is Friday, April 13, against Globe with the varsity game at 2 and the JV game at 4 p.m.

By Bob Morales The clang of a chute opening, a calf escapes, hooves pound, lariats whistle through the air, a cloud of dust, and another perfect roping accomplished. Or not! More often, not. The scene played itself out all day, Saturday and Sunday. The R.C. Roping Promotions held its Pioneer Days Roping for the second time in as many years. It attracted ropers from throughout the state. From the north came ropers from Snowflake, Pinetop, Show Low, White River and Lakeside. Ropers also came from Tucson, Chandler, Gilbert, Queen Creek, Casa Grande, Safford, Apache Junction, Globe and San Carlos. Oracle, Mammoth, Aravaipa, Dudleyville, Winkelman and Kearny also had ropers in the contest. The ages of the ropers were very surprising. The ladies varied from 14 – 53 years old. The youngest male roper was 13, with the oldest being 63. Two of the younger ropers from the White Mountain Apache fared well. The heifers for the event came from the 2/M Ranch in Tucson. It was interesting to learn that one of the wranglers had won the 1974 Pioneer Days Rodeo All-Around Cowboy Award. This old-time cowboy goes by the name Mike Garrison. The other wranglers are Tony Quigada, Jose Zambrasso and Mike Herran. They trucked in 50 head. These feisty calves gave the lower grade ropers fits; especially three painted calves in the herd. These three seemed to run as fast as greyhounds. The upper grade ropers had little trouble with the calves. Horses of all colors were seen during the two days. They were strong, beautiful animals and very skilled. Among the Bays and Sorrels were Palominos, a Red Roan, Chestnuts, Appaloosas, grey, black and white horses. It was a beautiful western scene. The Buckle Winners for March 31, 4 and under grade, were John Henry Gaona Jr.

Results posted for Pioneer Days Ropingand Phil Stratton, grade 5 Steve Whitehead and Jacob Lopez and for grade 6 and over, Steven Gaona and Mark Carlisle. For April 1, Clint Clendon and Jose Yanez Sr. won for grade 4 and under; Sugar Ray

Beatty, Zach Andrade and Craig Hewitt in grade 5; and for grade 6 and over, Boshane Beatty and Steven Gaona. Now for everybody’s favorite place, the concession stand. Working the stand were Liz and Lissette Parra,

Barbara Martinez and Amanda Arvizo. Grill masters were Mauro Parra and Sam Martinez. Menu items included green chili burros and red chili burros, hamburgers and

By Nolberto Waddell The Lady Lobo softball team and seven other teams got to-gether over the weekend for some great softball action that culminated with the crowning of the San Manuel team as cham-pions of the 21st Annual Lady Lobo Softball Tournament. Action began at nine in the morning with the Lady Lobos tangling with the Lady Tigers of Globe High School. Marlisse Perez in the pitching circle for the Lobos was cruising along with a two-hit shutout of the Ti-gers until the fifth inning when the Tigers finally got to her for one run on two hits to make the score 7-1 with the Lobos com-ing to bat in the bottom of the fifth. The Lobos put an end to the game scoring seven runs in the fifth for the 10-run rule win. At the other field, the Lady Miners of San Manuel got a bye when the Lady Bears of Coolidge High School called and said they were not coming because they would rather go dancing at their prom than play

softball giving the Miners a 1-0 win. The second set of games had Wilcox High School taking on the Thatcher Lady Eagles and at the Little League field the Lady Sabercats of San Tan took on the very powerful Lady Bull-dogs of Safford High School. The Cowgirls of Wilcox jumped on the Thatcher pitcher for two runs in the first inning and held on to defeat the Lady Eagles with 4-1 score. At the Little League field, Safford had little trouble with San Tan handing them a 19-4 defeat. The next set had San Manuel taking on the Lady Hawks of Rio Rico High School and Globe getting a bye because of the Coolidge absence. The Min-ers had little trouble with Rio Rico handing them a lopsided 21-5 loss. The next two games were good ones! The Cowgirls of Wilcox and the Lady Lobos tangled in one of the best games of the tournament. Lobo pitcher Demitria Boltarez pitched one

of her better games of her career against the Cowgirls giving up two early runs and coming back in several innings when she had runners in scoring position but buckled down to keep the Cowgirls from scoring. Going into the seventh inning trailing 1 to 2, Devon Estrada led off with an error by the second baseman and the Lobos had two runners on when Kyana Garcia reached base with a hit. Both runners moved a base when Stephanie Chiquete grounded out to the second baseman and after the second out, Marlisse Perez dropped the ball behind the sec-ond baseman for a two RBI hit and the winning runs. At the other field, San Manuel took care of the Lady Bulldogs of Safford with a 7-2 score to advance for winner’s bracket showdown with the Lady Lo-bos. The last two games of Fri-day’s schedule were elimination games with Thatcher defeating the Lady Tigers of Globe and Rio Rico defeating The San Tan Lady Sabercats.

Action again began at nine in the morning on Saturday with a guaranteed third game and an elimination game. Globe de-feated San Tan in the guaranteed game with a 14 to 6 score and in the elimination game Wilcox sent the Rio Rico Lady Hawks home with a 15 to 0 whipping. In the next set of games, Saf-ford sent the Thatcher Lady Eagles home with a 15 to 0 whipping to advance in the loser’s bracket and the only two remaining undefeated teams went at each other in the winner’s bracket: San Manuel flexed their muscles handing the Lady Lobos a 10-2 loss advanc-ing the Miners to the champion-ship game and sending the Lady Lobos to an elimination game against the Safford Bulldogs who had eliminated the Wilcox Cowgirls with an 8-4 score. In the third place game, Hayden took on the powerful Lady Bulldogs taking a three-run lead in the top of the first in-ning but that would be as close as they would get when the bats

of Safford came up with six runs on three hits and took advantage of two errors. The Safford team added three more runs to win with a 9-3 score and advance to the championship for a rematch against the Lady Miners. The Lady Lobos finished the tourna-ment in third place. In the championship game, the Miners took a 1 to 0 lead after in inning and put the game away scoring five runs in the bottom of the second for a 6 to 1 lead. The Bulldogs fought back but every time they would score a run the Miners would come right back and score a run in the at bats to win the championship of the Lady Lobo Tournament with a 9-4 score. At the end of the tournament the all-tournament team of the 21st Annual Lady Lobo Tournament was announced. The Rio Rico team placed Daniela Soliz. The Globe Lady Tigers had Savanna Barajas on the team. The San Tan Lady Sabercats had Teka Schulte-Evans on the team. Thatcher

placed Danica Cooke on the team and from the fourth place Wilcox Cowgirls came Nikki Dunlap and Adriana Sinohui. The third place Lady Lobos had Devon Estrada, Marlisse Perez and Demitria Boltarez on the team. From the runner-up Safford Bulldogs came Adrian Lopez, Tessa Brock, Jasmine Guerrero, Nicole Baker and Essnia Molina. The champion San Manuel Lady Miners had six members on the team; Alexis Garibay, Katie Monfred, Mireya Tamayo, Alyssa Cuellar, Felicia Medina and Emmy Lou Clark. Congratulations to all the members of the team for their great play. The Hayden High School Lady Lobos, their coaches and administrators want to give a big thank you to all the people that helped make this tournament another success. To all the teams that came and participated, thank you. And to all the fans that came and supported their favorite team and the concession stand, thank you.

How to Hard Cook Eggs

By Nolberto Waddell The Lobo baseball team played two excellent baseball games last week defeating two very good baseball teams. Tuesday, March 27, the Lions of Pusch Ridge came to Lobo field facing Lobo pitcher Thomas Cabrera who tossed a shutout at the Lions. Cabrera gave up a hit to the lead-off batter but settled down and got the next three batters on a ground out, a fly to center and a strikeout. The Lobos scored two in their half of the first when Erik Rivera reached on a hit and scored on a triple by Adrian Ochoa. Ochoa scored on a ground out by Cabrera before the inning ended and all the runs Cabrera would need. The Lions loaded the bases with two

Lobos post wins over Pusch Ridge, Miamiouts but could not score as the Lobos protected the two run lead. The Lobos went down in order in the second. Cabrera put down the Lions in order in the third. The Lobos scored two runs on hits by Gabriel Encinas, Rivera, Ochoa and Roman Padilla to take a 4 to 0 lead after three innings. In the top of the fourth Cabrera struck out the side and the Lobos returned the favor going down in order in the fourth still leading 4 to 0. Cabrera gave up a leadoff double in the fifth but settled down to get the next three Lions on two fly balls and a ground out. The Lobos struck for three runs in the fifth after one out on a walk by Rivera, an RBI triple by Ochoa and after the second out scored again on a double by Padilla and a hit by Matt Manriquez to take a 7 to 0 lead. The Lions went down quietly in the sixth as did the Lobos. In the top of the seventh after one out, the Lions had runners at the corners on a walk and a hit but Cabrera got the next two Lions on fly balls to shut out the Lions with a 7 to 0. The Lobo bats were led by Adrian Ochoa with two triples and a single and scored two runs in three at

bats. Erik Rivera had two singles in three at bats, walked once and scored three runs. Roman Padilla had a single and a double in three at bats and scored one run. Matt Manriquez had a single in three at bats as did Gabriel Encinas who scored one run. The Lobos took on another tough team when the Vandals of Miami High School came to Hayden for a game. Matt Manriquez was called on the take the mound for the Lobos and he gave the Lobo coaches another excellent outing. Manriquez gave up a run on two hits in the top of the first but the Lobos came back scoring three runs after two outs in the bottom of the first on a hit by Cabrera, a walk to Padilla, a two RBI double by Manriquez and an RBI single by Marcos Gonzales to take a 3 to 1 lead after one inning of play. The Vandals came back to tie the game on a homerun by the leadoff batter and after two outs scored another run on two singles. The Lobos went down quietly in the second with the score tied at three apiece. Manriquez put the Vandals down in order in the third and the Lobos took the lead for good in the bottom of the

third scoring two runs on a two RBI homerun by Manriquez to lead 5-3. Manriquez walked two and struck out three in the top of the fourth to protect the 5-3 lead. The Lobos extended the lead in the fourth when Rivera reached base getting hit by a pitch and scored on a double by Cabrera. Cabrera came around to score on a couple of passed balls to give the Lobos a 7-3 lead. The Vandals scored a run on a walk and a hit in the fifth before Manriquez settled down and struck out the next three batters. The Lobos went down quietly in the fifth. The Vandals had a runner at third base in the sixth but could not bring him around as Manriquez protected the 7-4 lead. The Lobos added an insurance run in the sixth when Rivera reached base on a hit and

came around to score on a ground out and a passed ball to make the score 8-4 going into the seventh inning. In the seventh, the Vandals got a runner on after two outs but Manriquez struck out the next batter to end the game and get the pitching win with the 8-4 score. Matt Manriquez led the Lobo batters with a double and a homerun in three at bats. Erik Rivera had a double and a single in three at bats, Thomas Cabrera

had a double and a single in three at bats and Marcos Gonzales had a single in two at bats. The two wins put the Lobo baseball team in the number three spot in the A.I.A. power point standings and they hoped to improve on the standings yesterday when they traveled to Globe yesterday for a game against the Tigers. They return to home field to take on the Eagles of Imagine Prep on the April 6.

By Steve YurekPastor, Kearny SBC Pioneer Days may be over for this year, but the memories will live on forever! What a great time was had by all that attended the many activities this year as we brought back some of the favorites of the past. One of those was the Pioneer Days Jail. Last Friday over 13 people were ‘arrested’ in the name of Family First Pregnancy Center and Diaper Bank in Winkelman. With over $300 raised in bail money to benefit Family First, we thank everyone for the great participation. I look forward to next years’ ‘Jail-A-Thon’, so start thinking of who you would want to have arrested. Our special Sunday morning combined worship service at Pioneer Park was attended by over 90 people from all different religious denominations.

Ray Primary and Elementary Students took part in the Jump Rope for Heart event throughout the month of February. Physical Education

Ray Students are ‘Heart Heroes’

teachers Dejah Hatfield and Aaron Chenoweth, teamed up with the American Heart Association and Ray students in grades 2-8 to raise money for the foundation. During the monthlong event, students learned about children with special hearts, heart facts and ways to keep their own hearts healthy by staying active and exercising with ways like jumping rope. This year the students raised $1,994.76 for the foundation. Students were offered incentives for increments of money raised and all students who raised more than $10 received a free ticket to a Phoenix Suns game. Our top fundraiser for the Primary School was Tracon Naranjo from Mrs. Rubalcaba’s second grade class. Our top fundraiser for the Elementary School was Katlyn Gantt from Mrs. Armenta’s sixth grade class. Thank you to all students who participated and became “Heart Heroes”! You help save lives!!

It was great to see people from Good Samaritan, Copper Valley Christian Center (nice new sign!), Fellowship Baptist Church, Kearny SBC, Infant Jesus of Prague Catholic Church and many others. And to all new faces that came this past Sunday – Thank You for attending. You know it is not about what church you attend, it is about how strong your relationship is with our Lord Jesus Christ. I may be wrong but I do not remember reading in the Bible about the ‘Baptist’ only section in Heaven….

Our Sunday night non-traditional service continues to grow with “Walking-180” leading us in praise and worship. This is a great time to get together with friends and let your hair down in a casual setting, hear some great music and come together to study God’s Word. This past Sunday night we welcomed a number of new visitors and talked about what does ‘Palm Sunday’ really mean. The question was asked – “If you saw Jesus riding on a donkey coming in front of your house, what would YOU lie down on the ground in honor of Him?” This is the

last week of the earthly life of Jesus Christ. Special ‘Good Friday’ services will be held at Fellowship Baptist Church at 6pm and many other churches in the area. Yes, our sins were the nails that put Christ on the cross this Friday, but we all know the end of the story…RESURRECTION SUNDAY is the greatest day in Christian belief. The tomb is empty! Make sure you attend one of the many special ‘Easter Sunday’ worship services throughout the area! Because of Easter, Kearny SBC will NOT have a SUNDAY NIGHT service. I invite you to join us this Sunday morning for a very special “Resurrection Sunday” service at 11am. My son approached me this past week with a great question. He said – “Dad, don’t bunnies give birth without eggs? Why do we always see the Easter bunny with eggs all around them?” I did like most men

would do when approached with a deep question like this….I said – “Go ask your mother!” I have already started picking up large items like stoves, fridges and anything metal for recycling. Just give me a call at 520-363-9573 to schedule a time for me to pick up. Our next ‘Great Kearny Clean-Up’ is scheduled on APRIL 14th (Saturday) from 9am to 1pm. Mark your calendars!!!! Now is a GREAT time to get rid of that sofa on your front or back porch, the dryer that is a planter stand on the side of your house, or that pile of tree clippings that you don’t have time to take to the dump! Show your pride and help keep our city looking good. Don’t forget the Greatest Gift is still – FREE! That is the gift of Eternal Life through a personal relationship with our Lord - Jesus Christ! Please visit a church that shares the truth this weekend! So, there you have it…If you have any questions or comments please send me a note at [email protected] or give me call at 520-363-9573. HAPPY EASTER and don’t forget….God Loves YOU!

ty-three samples were collected of jasperoid, jasperoid breccia, silica vein material, hematiti-cally altered silty limestone, dolomite and silicified rhyolite porphyry. Seven of these sam-ples assayed >.20 ounces per ton gold and another three assayed >.10 ounces per ton gold. The highest assay was 1.0268 ounces per ton gold collected from an outcrop of black to red jasperoid breccia. These historical assays strongly support previous assay data from the property and sug-gest the occurrence of a large bulk tonnage disseminated gold deposit on the property. Geo-physical surveys conducted on the property in the 1980s also suggest the possibility of a gold skarn deposit at depth. Alan Brown, President of Tombstone, stated, “With prices for metals at historic high levels, the time to move aggressively forward is now. We are currently planning an active exploration and near term drill program for the Zebra property based on recommendations in our new 43-101 completed by SRK Con-sulting last month.” The Tombstone Exploration Project is an exploration and development project within the historic Tombstone Mining District, Cochise County, south-eastern Arizona. Detailed studies of the minerals of the Tombstone Mining District have shown a large number and wide assort-ment of mineralization including silver, gold, copper, lead, and zinc minerals, which have been described along with manganese, tellurium, molybdenum, and vanadium. Although Tombstone is famous for bonanza silver deposits and is essentially a precious-metal district, the por-phyry copper model of Lowell and Guilbert (1970) suggests the presence of a buried porphyry copper deposit at depth. Tomb-stone has the minerals rights to 11,863 acres of historical min-ing land and is the largest land holder in the Tombstone Mining District.Millrock Galiuro Project Millrock Resources Inc. an-nounced that a hole being drilled on the Fourmile prospect on the Galiuro property was abandoned prior to reaching target depth. The work was being funded by Vale Explora-

tion Canada Inc. (“VEC”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Vale S.A. (“Vale”) pursuant to an op-tion agreement signed March 2, 2009. Vale has decided to termi-nate the option agreement. Hole FM_1001 was a verti-cal hole being drilled to test a circular magnetic feature ringed by a strong conductive zone as identified by a ZTEM airborne geophysical survey. Intense argillic alteration is known from rock exposures and prior drilling on the west side of the structure. The hole was pre-collared to a depth of 453 m using a re-verse circulation drill. Core drill-ing proceeded through Tertiary volcanic rock cover. Drilling

conditions were very poor, and ultimately the hole was lost at a depth of 1,231.5 m. The hole was terminated before reaching target depth and the favorable Laramide-aged rocks expected beneath the Tertiary cover rocks. The target at the Galiuro prop-erty is a large porphyry copper +/- gold deposit hidden beneath alluvium and Tertiary volcanic cover, similar in magnitude to the nearby Resolution deposit, which is being developed by Rio Tinto and BHP Billi-ton. The property is situated at the intersection of the Resolution and San Manuel / Kalamazoo porphyry copper trends. Be-cause of the Tertiary volcanic

MiningContinued from Page 4

cover, other companies have pre-viously done little exploration work. Through careful geologi-cal mapping in combination with

airborne magnetic and ZTEM geophysical surveys, Millrock has identified numerous targets that may represent porphyry de-

posits. With the withdrawal of Vale from the project, Millrock is seeking new partners to test the remaining targets.

The New and Exciting!

“More than just a church – We are FAMILY”Kearny SBC

By Mila Lira Within the next few years industries throughout the state of Arizona and the nation will experience a loss of skilled employees in the trades. This loss will be due to the fact these skilled employees will be reaching retirement age and large scale electrical re-gridding projects will utilize the majority electricians in the United States. This shortage of skilled labor is already impacting local companies such as Asarco Grupo Mexico. In an effort to help train future trade employees Asarco Grupo Mexico is offering nine Arizona residents the opportunity to attend Yavapai College CTEC mining program in Prescott Arizona. The CTEC program provides a two year associates degree in Diesel Mechanic Technology, Electrical and Instrumentation Technology, and Industrial Plant Technologies (Mill Repair). Asarco will pay for the two years of tuition, books, and dorm and housing costs for the selected students. The selected students will also be given jobs during their summer and winter breaks to help with other living costs. The recipient will be obligated to work for Asarco at one of their Arizona operations (Ray, Silverbell or Mission

Mines) for three years after receiving their degree if they do not meet that obligation the recipient will have to repay the company. Who can apply for this program? For this year Asarco plans on sending nine students – four will be from the Copper Corridor area and five will be from greater Tucson area. Applicants to the program must be 18 years or older, have a High School Diploma or GED and must be able to pass the Compass Test for entry into the community college system. It is not required that the applicant be a Senior in High School, those who have already graduated and are still looking for educational and career opportunities are encouraged to apply as well as those leaving military service. Those selected for the program will also be required to pass drug tests and physicals. An initial application will need to be filled out and submitted to Linda Nichols at Asarco. Guidance counselors at the local high schools do have copies of the applications. Those interested in applying for the program or would like more information should contact Linda Nichols by email at [email protected].
