RABBI’S CORNER

Dear YIEB Families,

This past Shabbat, I spoke about our responsibility as

US citizens and as Pro-Israel activists to advocate that

members of congress to reject the Iran deal. Thank

you to all those who took the time to attend a rally

and who called our representatives in Washington

DC. This week, I went to Washington DC with 30

Rabbis from across NJ and NY. I met with our three

representatives (Senator Menendez, Senator Book

and Congresswoman Coleman) who are all very

concerned about the Iran deal. We need to continue

calling their offices and writing emails urging them to

vote against the deal. It truly makes a difference!

Please call (and encourage others to call) our three

Representatives:

A. Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman 202-

225-5801

B. Senator Cory Booker 202-224-3224

C. Senator Bob Menendez 202-224-4744

Here is a sample phone script (provided by AIPAC):

"I am calling to urge the senator/representative to

oppose the Iran nuclear deal because it will not block

Iran from getting a nuclear weapon."

Talking Points:

· I have consistently supported diplomatic efforts

to peacefully prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear

weapons. I appreciate the hard work of the

administration to reach a deal.

· Unfortunately, the proposed deal will let Iran

become a threshold nuclear weapons state and will

not guarantee international inspectors access to

suspicious sites in Iran.

· Congress and the president have repeatedly

said, “No deal is better than a bad deal.” This is a bad

deal.

· Congress must oppose this agreement, and

urge the administration to negotiate a better deal

that will truly prevent Iran from building a nuclear

weapon.

Thank you for all your efforts.

4. Do not park by the entrance to the streetas it

blocks the entrance into the development and

PLEASE HELP US ADVOCATE FOR IMPORTANT FUNDING FOR

NEW JERSEY’S DAY SCHOOLS AND YESHIVAS.

Two weeks ago, TEACH NJS, a partnership between the

Orthodox Union Advocacy Center, 20 Jewish day schools, and

the Jewish Federations of both Northern New Jersey and the

Heart of New Jersey, held its Launch Event.

Three hundred concerned community leaders and members

attended this event, and each walked away knowing that

something can be done to reduce the cost of non-public

education. Increased state funding for our children’s

education and services is possible, and necessary to mitigate

the day school tuition crisis.

We can start by spending the next two weeks urging our state

legislators to restore the budget cuts to non-public education

and co-sponsor the Secure Schools for All Children Act

(A4288 and S2889) – critical legislation that will provide

funding for security in non-public schools.

To effectively advocate for this legislation, we need EVERY

member of our community to take two minutes to send an

automated email to your elected officials.

These two minutes could help bring in millions of dollars of

much needed services and equipment to our schools.

Please don’t miss this opportunity to make a difference. We

do not need hundreds of emails. We need thousands of

emails. Only as a confident, determined group can we make

this happen.

Please forward this email to your friends, your fellow school

parents and your shul members. The success that we can

achieve by working TOGETHER over the next two weeks is

crucial for both our schools and our children. Thank you,

Josh Pruzansky, New Jersey Regional Director

Orthodox Union Advocacy Center _____________________________________________________________________________________________
